Appreciated the helpfulness of the staff especially Chrissi. We stayed in the level of the hostel where kitchen was. Walls are very thin and you could hear conversations very clearly from all the rooms. Not good for those wanting a bit of privacy. Private room didn't feel very private since the washroom is right beside and once again walls VERY thin. Not much room once luggage in room. Frying pans and pots to cook food are mostly old and teflon is pealing off. Would recommend that owners purchase new ones for the hostel. Hostel was cleaned everyday. Nice large pillows on beds.

Room Tip: Funk room has a nice view of the waterfront and is the most spacious of the bedrooms in the hostel.

Hello, Thanks for your review! We welcome all feedback. Great to hear that you were looked after so well. Perhaps your next stay would be more suited to one of our self-contained cabins? I do understand that the guesthouse can get busy with noise when full.

We stayed in one of two cottages at Surfs Inn. It was in the back of the property in the woods, very quiet since it was away from the road -- no view. It is small, but with 2 beds that can sleep 4 (one was in a loft). The cottage was very welll appointed so such a small space -- just a 2 burner cook top and no oven. The linens are excellent. The cottage is a duplex so a family could have both sides. There's a porch with chair and great BBQ with all the tools.

The Surfs Inn is one of the best hostels I've stayed at so far - staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the common area is very spacious and there is even a garden area with a BBQ guests can use. There are only two dorms, so the athmosphere is very cosy. The location is also fabulous, it's right in the middle of Ucululet town. Lots of restaurants and also a supermarket and liquor store around.

This was the first time I stayed in Elephant Cottage, but my son, his wife & baby stayed last year and recommended we stay this year. We were 3 adults and one 2-year old. I was impressed with the place and we enjoyed our 10-day stay. Because the cottage is located at the back of the property, it's away from any streets & traffic which meant our toddler could wander in and out without worry, and it was very quiet. The front area is gravel with a fire pit that looked like a small pot-belly stove (fire wood available) and the rest of the cabin is surrounded by a wonderful forest. We had deer come through from the forest past our windows and up the lane almost every day. It was nice to wake up to a quiet tranquil setting with the birds chirping right outside our windows. Everything was very clean when we arrived & they came in half way through & changed all the bedding & towels & cleaned the place for us. With two bedrooms (one with queen bed with upper single bunk, second with double size bunk beds - all comfortable), each with their own 3-piece bathroom, including a bathtub in one, a cozy living room area with fire place & flatscreen tv, a small fully kitted kitchen (with dishes, full size fridge & stove with oven, all cooking equipment) & a gas BBQ just outside the door, comfy lawn chairs for around the fire or up on the wood decks (one deck outside front door, second deck outside one of the bedrooms), Elephant Cottage would easily suit 4 adults or family with 4 kids. It's walking distance to shopping (we bought all our food supplies for the week at the very well stocked Co-Op and did all our own food preparation), coffee shops & restaurants and right across the road from Ucluelet Marina. We surfed Wickanninish Beach or Long Beach twice a day each day (about 30 min or less drive), hiked the Schooner Cove trail to the beach (highly recommended!) and drove into Tofino (about 40 min) to putter through the shops. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Elephant Cottage. Thanks for the great stay Surf's Inn!

Room Tip: The kitchen is small but very doable and well stocked with cooking equipment. Coffee pot, coffee & tea provided.

Stayed in Kiwi Cottage which is one of the cottages offered by Surfs Inn in June 2012. Very nice cottage. Easily could sleep 4. Has kitchen and very nicely kitted out. The oven is a bit small and only 2 hobs if you plan to cook but overall very nice.
