“Westcoast paradise: breathtaking, comfortable and convenient”
Reviewed March 30, 2010

The setting of the hotel was breathtakingly beautiful and the rooms were amazing too.
We went with friends and four children under 2 years. The hotel was extremely accomodating with complimentary baby cots, rooms with kitchens and laundry and a lot of floor space. I would say very kid friendly. The staff were super friendly and the spa great! I think housekeeping could do a little better making up the rooms during extended stays but the rooms were extremely clean when we checked in.

I would definitely recommend this resort!

My wife, daughter and I drove to Tofino to see the sights and watch the whales during their regular migration through the west coast waters. We stayed at a resort called Black Rock and we were absolutely stunned as to the beauty of this rare gem. Nestled on a rock face with all the rooms having an ocean view was a great start but then when you walk the lush green trails, there are hours of beaches, sea caves, a varitable wealth of nature's wonders. The rooms are perched above the waves that continually roll, froth and foam as you watch the sea birds and seals and yes, whales spouting a ways off shore, fabulous. Chef prepared delicacies at each sitting with again, a huge glass restaurant to watch the whales while sipping some of Vancouver Island's own tasty wines is a highlite so go, enjoy a little bit of Hawaii on the West Coast eh !

I couldn't agree more. The rugged lush coast line, the mountains in the background, the vibrant blue and green ocean waters, definitely a Hawaiian landscape, but here in beautiful Ucluelet, British Columbia. We are so blessed to live in such a magnificent place and we are all so pleased to be able to share it with you. Thank you so much for choosing Black Rock Oceanfront Resort, we hope you do come to see us again soon. Whale festival next year starts March 19 through to the 27th, 2011. Great music, great food, excellent memories.

Please come again soon.

We had the pleasure of staying at Black Rock recently. It was our first visit there and we were very pleased with how well it turned out. The views from the rooms and common areas are incredible. We took a walk along the picturesque trail along the Pacific right outside the hotel, had an amazing dinner at the restaurant at the hotel (I highly recommend the salmon), and retired to our room where we enjoyed a warm fire while listening to the sound of the ocean against the rocks right outside our window. We will definitely be visiting again soon, and I would recommend it to any of my friends, with confidence!

We had a one bedroom suite, which worked out great, the view was awesome for watching what ended up being quite the West Coast Storm. The staff were friendly, the food was great. Definitely would not hesitate to recommend this Resort. Jarrett Vaughan and the Front Office staff made us feel very welcome as well as the staff at the rest of the Resort.

One of the finest resort experiences I've had recently - the spectacular scenery, the stunning location, the warm and friendly staff, and the world-class cuisine all made it a truly memorable weekend vacation for my wife and I. Our room was a fantastic take on west coast modern.....we stayed in a studio which featured a great view and an incredible over-sized bathroom. The front desk staff knew us by name within the first day - it was what a boutique hotel is supposed to be all about. Another must see: we wandered the wild pacific trail for about an hour and saw 6 whales only a few hundred meters off shore. Next time we are back I'll go fishing - apparently one trip out and the freezer can be stocked for the season. Can't wait...

My husband and I visited the resort for a weekend mini-break last month. We appreciated the hotel's architecture and ambiance, and really enjoyed chatting with the lounge bartender who was perhaps more attentive than she might be able to offer during the high season. Front desk were helpful with maps and dining ideas as well. We made good use of the new Wild Pacific hiking trails to enjoy some winter storm wave watching. The room itself was particularly special, kitted out with the latest electronics, a full kitchen complete with Miele appliances and a divine bathroom with independent soaker tub and walk in rain-shower. Go for the best value in the low season and enjoy affordable rates and magnificent uncongested scenery.
