“Can there be a more gorgeous view??”

This resort was clean, modern, and the rooms had sooo many great amenities. A fireplace. Heated bathroom floor. A screen-door on the balcony. Nice kitchen appliances. Comfy robes. A great rain shower. We loved it.

The restaurants both serve high-quality food.
The spa is small, but serviceable.
The staff is very nice.
The cliff-side view is unbeatable.
The Wild Pacific Trail is right next to the building.

I don't know if it is the best place for kids, due to the small pool. But for a couple who wants to get away from it all, its real nice.

Room Tip: We had a Pacific Spirit Suite (Room 315). It is in the main building, and I highly recommend it. A...

Lovely resort.
The staff were very nice and the spa was outstanding. My spa service was one of the best I have ever had.
Rooms were very nice - with beautiful bathrooms and above average bed and lounge area
Food was wonderful, and the walk through the trail was outstanding.

If I had a complaint I would say the only issue was the lack of beach area - if you wished to swim. If you were looking for nature feel - this is without a doubt the spot for it.
A very nice weekend away and would suggest and recommend to all.

Room Tip: If you are on the bottom floor you run the risk of noisy feet upstairs as we did.

The location of this property is stunning. We had a relaxing stay in a one bedroom suite with balcony facing the ocean and "black rocks." We appreciated the modern design and high-end furnishings. The bathroom tub overlooked the bed and had a fab view of the coast. The place felt more like a time-share/condo with hotel amenities. Spa seemed nice but exposed as you entered the jacuzzis from the changing areas. There is a small fitness center and very small pool which seemed sub-par for what you are paying. The wonderful Pacific Rim trail is a highlight and hugs the coast adjacent to the property; a great way to augument the old exercise routine. We enjoyed the restaurant for dinner (especially outdoors on the patio) and the bar for a place to relax and have something more informal. Sushi was awesome and all food well-presented and prepared (we chose only seafood & vegetarian options). This area seems to have many adjacent interesting lodging options so despite the spectacular views not sure I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for ocean view as there seem to be many rooms facing the trees.

Our Suite had a wonderful view of the Pacific. We would fall asleep to the sound of the surf and fog horn. The porch was very large as was the suite. Tile in bathroom was warmed. Large soaking tub with view of the sea. Very large separate rain shower. Restraurant had interesting food but service was spotty. When we checked in our room wasn't ready until after 5PM (they said they had a fire). The next day our room hadn't been cleaned by 3PM (no excuses this time). Front desk folks were friendly and helpful - they seemed interested. On the other hand the housekeeping could use some assistance. Our room hadn't had mirror cleaned and the floor still had flower pedals from the last guest. This is an expensive and very nice resort that hasn't attended to the little things like scraches on door, walls that could use spot painting, too few housekeeping and restraurant staff. If you like to get out and hike/walk (Pacific Trails) this is the place to be.

Having spent 4 nights at the resort we can say we had a wonderful relaxing stay, enjoying the amazing location and scenery. Following on from a week travelling the Rockies, this was perfect. Watching the Pacific Ocean from our living room and bedroom - stunning. We had a one bedroom suite in one of the lodge buildings. The suite was enormous with a very well appointed kitchen and large livingroom, bedroom and bathroom. My husband had wanted to visit this coast for the last 30 years and he was not disappointed. The Wild Pacific Trail is right outside the resort and we managed to walk about two-thirds of it. The pool is very small but it is described as a plunge pool, so if you do your homework you will know what to expect. We booked through Expedia (unknowingly) and I had concerns that we would not get the room shown, with ocean view. I checked with the hotel and found that this was not the case with Expedias allocation, so agreed to a small upgrade to ensure we got exactly what we wanted, and we did. We found the staff to be helpful and pleasant at all times, and dealt with any queries efficiently. We would agree that the soundproofing is not good. We could hear the people adjoining our suite and also above us, including a barking dog.
Our only disappointment was the restaurant. We had two meals there. On our first night my husband had the pork tenderloin, which was very tough, which seems impossible for a professionaly to turnout. We were generally not impressed with the meal at the price. However, we decided to give it another try and this time, having had the mussels to start, which were fantastic, we had the butchers block to follow. It was strip loin steak - so full of sinew and half of mine was not edible. The vegetable was spinach, about a tablespoon I think - nowhere near enough vegetables included in the meals. We did complain this time and this was dealt with very efficiently and politely by the restaurant manager for that evening. We had eaten the night before at Norwoods in the village and had had an outstanding meal so this was a disappointment. The meal we had in the Resort lounge bar on one other evening was great.
We would definitely return and hopefully in the not too distant future.

Room Tip: If you have a specific location in mind, check that you will get it. We also wanted laundry facilit...

This hotel is odd. It looks like an upscale resort but falls short just about everywhere.
The rooms are nice. The bathrooms are beautiful. The views are spectacular if you get the right room.

However, service is poor in a lot of areas. The restaurant was mediocre and they somehow "lost" our reservation. They seated us eventually anyway but it was annoying. The food was ok but we had better cuisine in town

The employee who checked us in was condescending and verged on rude.

I had to request both laundry detergent and dishwasher detergent.

The pool is too small but the pool deck does have lovely views. It's designed strangely and you have to walk through a cramped workout room to access the pool area.
The soundproofing is awful. We stayed in both the main lodge and the suites and both were crappy for sound.

It's not an awful place but don't let the location and appearance fool you, it's no Fairmont. More of a Ramada with nicer bathrooms.

We won't stay again.

The Wild Pacific Trail is just outside your door.... literally. We found Brown's Beach to be so peaceful. We took a picnic and combed the little beach and saw starfish and fishing boats going by on the horizon. While waves lapped the shore and birds sang we felt like we were on our own private island for the afternoon.

I wish I had stayed longer on Vancouver Island at Black Rock. My advise.....stay that one more day if you can.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 418 (top floor) a smaller studio room with a small kitchen, HUGE bathroom, firepla...
