Horizons West
Ranked #9 of 30 Ucluelet B&B and Inns
Reviewed July 22, 2012

This B & B was recommeded by Marla and Tom at Cedar Wood Lodge in Port Alberni and they
were right to do so. Horizons West is beautifully situated overlooking the Pacific Ocean on the
outskirts of Ucluelet. The rooms are very comfortable, one reviewer described it as 'a tastefully updated log cabin' and that is a perfect description. Run by brother and sister team Jennifer and Richard who obviously care very much about the property and the people who stay there. Be warned though - if you are going in the height of the season - June though August - booking is highly recommended. Also be warned that if you are visiting from the UK and have Cadbury;s chocolate in your bag Jennifer will sniff it out !!!

Room Tip: Book well in advance

My boyfriend and I visited for 2 nights in spring 2012. It was more rainy than we were expecting, but it was a-ok - the cozy environment at the B&B was exactly what we needed - some much needed R&R. The place is very nicely decorated, with the feel of a tastefully updated log cabin. I loved all the soft but bright lighting. It was very clean and Jennifer made us very welcome. She gave us a nice greeting upon arrival and gave us all the information we needed to make our stay in Ucluelet great - we hit up all the spots she suggested when we asked about the activities/places we were interested in, and they were all exactly as she described, hehe, both the good and the not-as-good!
The breakfasts were great - made with healthy ingredients, served at the requested time, and presented so nicely! Both mornings we opened our doors to a delicious smell. Jennifer was friendly and great to chat with. We ate with other guests and it was really nice to chat to them as well.
The rooms off the main common area have great ocean views and large patio doors - awesome! I can only imagine how nice it would have been to sit out there if it weren't raining. It was also quiet during our stay, making relaxation very easy. This B&B provided a larger room with more amenities than we had at others. Very good value.

We loved it and will definitely be back if we come back to Ucluelet - which ended up being our favourite place on the island!!

Room Tip: The rooms of the common area have ocean views.

This B and B is not only in a gorgeous location but the house itself is stunning, clean and well decorated. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. This B and B is the one I would suggest to anyone looking for a great place to stay in the Tofino/Ucluelet area. It offers a great deck to enjoy the sunshine on and is close to all the amenenties Ucluelet has to offer. If you are headed to this area please take your time, enjoy the area and stay here!

My husband and I stayed at Horizon's West for 4 nights. It is the most charming Bed and Breakfast I have every stayed in. Our room was so beautiful and rustic but at the same time beautifully decorated and meticulously clean. I spent a lot of time sitting on the back patio reading, bird watching and whale watching. The views of the mountains and ocean were spectacular. The breakfast was homemade and worth waking up for. Especially the oatmeal pancakes. There are amazing running/walking trails right outside the house all along the water! Amazing restaurants within walking distance. Jennifer is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to anything about the area. Whatever you want to see and do she will point you in the right direction. We plan on going back again next year!

The moment we arrived and saw the beautiful Horizons West, the stunning views, and were given the sweet welcome from hostess- we knew would would love it.
It is clear that Horizons West is lovingly cared for by the owners, and their pride is evident in how they retain the natural charm of the building and ensure their guests have everything that they need. The deck has such stunning views, we really enjoyed just sitting, relaxing and watching the wildliffe -soaking in all that Vancouver Island has to offer.
The location was perfect for us. We could walk to the town for dinner, or to access any of the activities. And it was really nice not to be on the main street of the town and to have a sense of peace and tranquility.
The hostess makes the most gorgeous breakfasts - my tip is to make sure you don't sleep in. They are the best I have ever had. She is also the sweetest person and was always helpful in advising on the best things to see and do in the area.
I suppose the big compliment we can pay is in saying that we would love to return for a visit and would recommend to anyone who wants a wonderful holiday.

Room Tip: Culsons Cove where we stayed is very private with own entrance,. It is lovely but perhaps can be a l...

We spent 2 nights in the spacious Eagles Nest suite this past summer. We enjoyed our stay at this comfortable B & B. Jennifer is a wonderful host and will make sure you have a pleasant and relaxing stay.

Horizons West is located on a quiet street only a few minutes drive from the small town centre. The B&B is situated at the back of a sheltered cove that is protected by a couple of small islets.

The B&B is a remodelled\renovated cottage.
The main part of the building is all open concept. Dinning room, kitchen and lounge are all combined. Here you can relax on the sofa, enjoy a cup of coffee, admire the view, browse through the many books or chat with Jennifer in the kitchen or the other guests in the common area while waiting for breakfast. Makes for a friendly relaxed atmosphere.

“Rustic Charm” would best describe the décor and ambiance of this accommodation.
If you are planning a stay in Ucluelet Horizons West will not disappoint.

Room Tip: Eagles Nest & Den are upstairs on main floor with walkout decks. Coulsons Cove is on ground lev...
