“Heavenly!”

We spent a night in Bragg Creek to celebrate my birthday and our anniversary. The Riverside Chateau was amazing! We loved every moment.

The owners were warm and welcoming, yet gave us privacy to relax on our own. And relax, we did :-) We read books on comfy chairs on the patio, strolled around the wooded area, and walked to a wonderful dinner at the Steak Pit down the road. At night we sat outside by the fireplace with our wine glasses and a cozy blanket.

Our room was the perfect combination of luxury and simplicity. Gorgeous wood floor/ceiling/ walls, rustic furniture, 5 star bedding, and windows that we left open to the fresh air and sounds of nature.

After a great sleep, we had a delicious breakfast. Organic granola and yogurt with fresh berries, the best French Toast we've ever tasted, fresh juice, hot coffee, and biscotti to finish it off.

A big part of the charm of Riverside Chateau is being able to enjoy the outdoor setting and experience the laid-back town of Bragg Creek. We were fortunate to have nice weather during our stay.

We'd love to go back!

We were graciously invited into Marc & Yvonna's (who are excellent hosts) beautiful log home. They will either let you have your privacy, or be invited directly into their home. The accomodation is definately 5 star, we were even invited to join them for supper, and the breakfast served the following morning was incredible. If a log mansion in a rustic setting intrests you this is definatly the place to stay.

As an organizer of visits to Bragg Creek for my friends, we have received hospitality from two of the most gracious hosts in their spectacularly beautiful retreat called Riverside Chateau. From the quality breakfasts, to the huge bedrooms filled with nature sounds and visions of trees and sky to the walks by the river, we have not been disappointed. My friends who have stayed in some of the most lovely of 5 star establishments world wide, also rank the Riverside Chateau as the most peaceful and exquisite. Quality service, style, class and beauty are bar none!!

We had our wedding at this place, loved the location and felt welcome by one of the owners.
3 weeks before the wedding things changed, and new rules were imposed on us.
1 week before the wedding they became even more difficult and any request from us was met with a negative response.
Wedding day, they actually locked our guests outside by dead-bolting the doors to ensure we stayed on the veranda while they set their beautiful table settings. These beautiful table setting were wood place mats at a wine glass. All food, cutlery (wrapped in tacky paper napkins, and plates were outside in the cold. Everyone was forbidden to bring their wine and beer inside, the owners went so far as to pour out the drinks while we ate dinner.
Dinner was provided by their friend and caterer and actually included uncooked chicken that they demanded I still pay for. They made all guests feel most unwelcome as if we were intruding on their home.
Their parking is all mud and unlit - lovely for high heeled guests and night time departures, photos in the surrounding yard was met with unwanted dog droppings.
Any unattended wine glass set on the table to go for a dance was promptly poured out. The weather was cold and rainy, they demanded we hold the dance outside on the veranda, we held our ground on this one and danced inside.
Champagne breakfast is included in their extravagant price. We ate with our attendants and the Riverside chateau owner's dogs, re-heated (in the microwave) old coffee cake, burned coffee, the rest of the food was good, but the champagne was no where to be seen.
After a very heated discussion - yes the day after my wedding, on their rude treatment of our guests we stormed out of there. We were so upset we actually had an incident with our motorbike on the highway home.
I would never recommend this place to my worst enemy!

The place is beautiful...however if you are wanting to have a wedding reception there the owners are less than accommodating. Most of us felt as if we were intruding and putting them out. We brought our own alcohol (beer & wine only) and were not allowed to bring our beer in from the patio when dinner started and every time someone got up to dance any wine or pop they left at their table was emptied and they returned to an empty glass.
We rented the entire place so we could stay up a little later than 11:00pm but our guests had to leave and those who spent the night were encouraged (lights shut off) to go to bed shortly thereafter even though we wanted to sit and chat quietly for a while.
The morning breakfast was great but the argument over the way we were treated the night before was off putting (to say the least). They owners also tried to get the money for the Caterer (their friend )but we had to say we would deal with the caterer directly as the chicken served for the meal had been uncooked and although the couple running the B&B put it in the oven it was almost 2hrs past the supper hour before it was thoroughly cooked by then no one was hungry anymore as we were dancing and visiting.

Overall not happy with the experience.

I made the mistake of booking a room at the Log Chateau with my credit card, then due to a change in circumstances (a death in the family), had to cancel the following day. The Chateau owner insisted a cancellation charge of $50 be made to my card, even though the booking date was several weeks away. Its hard to imagine that my short-lived reservation cost them any business, but it certainly would make me avoid the place in future.
