Folk Tree Lodge
Reviewed April 5, 2014 via mobile

We booked the upper beaver house for a girl's weekend and had a wonderful time. Paola, the owner, was very accommodating and friendly. The lodge is fully equipped with all of the kitchen supplies you will need to host any group. The lodge was absolutely beautiful and the surroundings are very peaceful. We had the bad luck of booking the coldest weekend of the year (-40 C) and the lodge was very chilly. We still had a great time but I would recommend bringing slippers and really warm sweaters if you stay during extreme cold weather.

I would love to go back sometime and would recommend Folk Tree without hesitation. It's the perfect setting for a gathering or getaway with friends or family.

We had "our family Christmas" in this cabin Dec 20-22, 2013 for 7 adults, this was the gift we chose for our family rather than purchasing gifts. It was the best choice we've ever made, a truly wonderful week-end.

We felt right at home staying at the beautiful Beaver House at Folk Tree Lodge. A simply stunning log cabin located a short distance from Bragg Creek, perfect for our family of nine! The cabin is stunning, it exudes a rustic feel with beautiful upgrades, a fully functional kitchen, and lots of space for the kids to run around. Paola knew we had a baby and equipped our stay with a crib, high chair, baby bath and booster seat. We mentioned we wanted to go tobogganing but we forgot our sleds, so without asking, they left three for us at our front door. They shoveled their pond so we could skate, and they checked in on us to ensure we were enjoying our stay. The attention to detail and hospitality we received was truly refreshing and made our stay at Folk Tree unforgettable.

Apart from the gorgeous accommodation, the property at the lodge is so picturesque. There's so much to do out there...We could have spent a whole week roaming around checking out all the trails, skating, feeding the horses, playing in the tree house and sitting around the fire pit.

This place is truly a gem and we will most definitely be back next Holiday season. Thank you Paola and family!

A group of women recently attended a retreat at the Folk Tree Lodge and we absolutely LOVED our accomodation and gorgeous surroundings! The beautiful ambience of the lodges with all the lovely hand carved beds, art work and even the dining room table...all created by Master Craftsman, Alvise (one of the owners), added to our wonderful experience during the retreat! I would highly recommend Folk Tree Lodge to anyone looking for a fabulous getaway in nature yet not too far from Calgary. Enjoy!

Room Tip: All the rooms are uniquely beautiful!

My sister chose this as a place to celebrate my 50th birthday. There were 16 of us altogether, and we rented three units - Big Beaver House (three bedrooms, two bathrooms, full kitchen), Little Beaver House (one bedroom, one bathroom, smaller kitchen) and the Wolf Den (one room with two sets of bunkbeds, no bathroom). We couldn't believe our eyes when we arrived and saw how beautiful everything was. Paola and Alvise have paid so much attention to detail. There is even a fantastic tree house for the kids!
Although it's not directly in the mountains, they are only a short drive away. We loved it, and we would go back.

Room Tip: Big Beaver House is perfect for a large group. All 16 of us spent most of our time in that unit (alt...

Thanks so much to Paola and Alvise for three wonderful nights in Deer House at Folk Tree Lodge. No detail is neglected and we changed our plans to stay an extra night partly because we did not want to leave. Comfy beds, cozy fire, beautiful sunroom for yoga or just to enjoy breakfast surrounded by trees and grazing horses! We simply walked out the door to cycle to beautiful Forget-me-not pond (H'way 66), and a short drive to Highwood pass (Oeter Lougheed park), where we cycled to the summit and saw our first grizzly bear! What a great holiday and Alvise's folk carving and great sense of colour, combined with Paola's ceiling decoupage, add a delightful personal touch to the accommodations.

Room Tip: The Deer lodge is cozy though dark in comparison to Beaver Lodge (where we might stay next time). Al...

I want to add my comments to what was already said about Folk Tree Lodge and our family reunion. This was the ideal setting. Beaver House accommodated all of our needs and we were very comfortable. Paola and Alvise thought of everything.
