What a gloriously wonderful stay! I decided to stay here after a day exploring Uppark - and I am SO pleased I did! Built in the 1500s, this pub is truly lovely - and my room in what was the original stables was a delightful combination of reclaimed materials and modern convenience. They even had the heated towel rail already turned on for my arrival. The service was friendly, the staff were lovely, the food was delicious and the bed was ever so comfortable. I loved every minute of it!

This is a perfect place to take any overseas guests. A typical country pub with oak beams and log fire but with the added attraction of a good restaurant as well. Not only was our food good but the wine list was attractive and the real ale just perfect! We had a fairly conservative choice of food e.g. ham, egg and chips, cottage pie, hamburger but there are fancier choices on the menu. The food we chose however was very good and much better than your usual pub fare. So well done to the White Hart.

Cosy, traditional, sophisticated, incredible service and even better food!

The food really was outstanding, better than most restaurants, we've booked Sunday lunch after going last night for the first time...

We stopped for Sunday lunch after visiting a National Trust property nearby. As we live in London we like driving out of the city on the spur of the moment and tend not to book anywhere as we never know where we might end up.
It was after 14h00 and the place was bustling, not overly busy but almost full inside with plenty of space still available in the garden.
When we enquired at the bar about a table (2 persons) and stated that we had not booked we were almost told off for showing up without a reservation. Had it not been the only place we have seen for miles we probably would have left there and then as this is not the attitude to have towards people who are clearly not local and therefore 'do not know better' than to book.
Aside from that the service was satisfactory and the food did not disappoint. The pub has a modern feel to it but still shows some of the original character

We stopped here after visiting UPPark the local National Trust house and gardens. We both started with scotch egg which tasted wonderful with a runny centre. We then both had ham egg and chips, this was hock ham, so tasty but not salty (like some cuts can be) the egg was a ducks egg so a delicate taste and complimented the ham. We had the draught Somerset cider which was smooth and yummy. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Would most definitely visit again if in the area.
