We were riding through on Harley's. great location just off the highway. Pemberton is small, so walking to the village was easy. Great restaurant attached to hotel. Provided pail, soap, rags and hose to wash the bikes. Rooms were spacious to say the least. No air conditioning but gets cool in the mountains at night. Accommodating manager

Dear Brackells...Thank you for taking the time jot down a descriptive & realistic review for other Bikers, & travelers in general. Glad you two enjoyed walking to town & the "Great restaurant attached to hotel" Mile One Eating House. As you pointed out we have " No air conditioning but(it) gets cool in the mountains at night". We have 9' / 3m ceilings, fans, & even tough we're a Modern Building all the windows open to catch the evening breezes. We keep the Windows & Blinds closed in the heat of the day & open to the breezes morning & evening. I'm pleased we could accommodate you in little ways: i.e. complimentary free parking for the Bikes, & so you could wash the HD's & bike trailer. Hope to see you again soon.Be safe! Happy riding!

We enjoyed our recent stay at the Pemberton Gateway Village Suites. The location is very convenient - right in town and very close to coffee, restaurants, etc. Our suite was quite large, and a little underfurnished (not in a bad way). It was quite clean. We had a great view from the living room and bedroom windows. It was delightfully breezy and not too buggy when we were there, so it was just fine having the windows open. However, there were no screens on the windows or A/C, so we were a bit lucky on this occasion. There were a couple of good quality fans, which would be very helpful in hot weather, but the bugs might still be an issue. The only other caveat is the flipside of being in town: there can be a surprising amount of noise in beautiful downtown Pemberton first thing in the morning - lots of early morning noisy trucks and conversation at the coffee place across the way, which then calmed right down a little later in the morning. Overall, I'd stay here again.

Dear Seaward14 ...Thanks for writing a clear descriptive review. These type of reviews are most helpful because they let other travelers know what to expect. We're happy you enjoyed your recent stay at the Pemberton Gateway Village Suites. We agree our 'Spartan' simply furnished Suites are quite large - from almost 450 to 550 sq., ft. We agree too the location is convenient, right at the beginning of town & very close to coffee shops & restaurants, & not mention the fabulous Black Bird Bakery.

We're gad you'll stay here again, see you then :)

The rooms are spacious and clean. The lack of reception was a surprise to us, but finally we found out that it is located in one of the suites. The hotel manager was very helpful though unconventional. Overall it was a nice stay and we were happy that we chose Pemberton instead of the more touristic Whistler.

Dear Road Runners... Děkuji (thanks) for reviewing us. We're glad you had a nice stay & found Value for your money & found our Suites clean & spacious. The lack of reception/lobby is a surprise to many, though very common in resort areas like Whistler, Mammoth, Lake Tahoe, Hawaii etc. By not having a costly staffed 24/7 manned ground floor lobby we lower our costs, & pass the savings on to our guests. We have resident staff, on site, on call 24/7. Our Office is Suite #211, 2nd floor. If the Manager isn't there, he may be working about the building, please telephone him & he will guide you in & meet you at the office for Check in. Its Ok to talk to the man gardening & clearing snow because in all likelihood its the Manager :)

I'm glad I could be helpful & that you were happy to "chose Pemberton instead of the more touristic Whistler".

Hope to see you on you next trip to Canada.

My wife and I booked a night here last weekend (July 13/14) to check out Pemby and get some hiking in. The Gateway was very accommodating, despite the website advertising a 2-night stay minimum I called ahead and asked if we could book for just the one night and it was no problem. We also got "upgraded" to a "2 bdrm" suite since there were no 1 bdrms left, at no additional cost. The "2 bdrm" suite is really a 1 bdrm with two queen beds, one bed in the bedroom the other in the living room with a current to draw some privacy. Nothing wrong with this, but you could be disappointed if you booked expecting two actual bedrooms. Overall, there was nothing special about the room, it was clean, decent bed, fully serviced kitchen - very average resort style condo. What was above average is the restaurant on the main floor - Mile One. It was awesome, great service and really great food. Just about everything on the menu is locally produced around the Pemberton region, including the burgers, and the prices were cheaper than your average pub. No beers on tap though ($6 for bottles is a bit steep), but there are two liquor stores near by, and The Pony pub down the street has Howe Sound on tap. We also visited the Pemby Distillery, which was very worthwhile. The hiking is world class, and the Gateway is a very comfortable and affordable place to base some great day trips from.

Room Tip: Call ahead and ask what rooms are available and the details on those rooms.

Dear Clandrock & Spouse... Thanks for spending time to write a review & helpful tips about booking, where to eat , & what to do, including world class hiking. There is almost 200 K of trails for foot, bike or horse in the Pemberton Valley! In winter snow shoe, ski or sled / snowmobile.
Hope to see you two again soon for your next hiking trip.

My husband and I can't understand the good ratings other people have given this dump. To begin with, there is no lobby or check-in counter, just a piece of paper on the stairwell door directing us to go to a particular room. We thought it strange, but went to the room, only to find it locked and with another note saying to call a cell phone number. When I did, the man was anything but cordial or helpful--he was downright rude. He eventually met us at his "office", which was simply a guest room piled everywhere with papers, books, and hotel supplies. Once there, he could not find our reservation (hardly surprising in that mess), and barely spoke to us as we waited in the hot, disheveled "office". Before agreeing to give him our info all over again, we insisted on seeing a room. It took him a long time to find one for us. The walk to the room was unpleasant as the hallway was hot and stuffy and dirty. The room itself was equally hot and stuffy and dirty and very worn and bare bones. The manager (owner?) continued to be brusque and obnoxious. He finally agreed not to charge us if we elected to cancel our reservations. We did so and got out of there as fast as we could!!! We can't imagine why anyone would choose to stay there. Thankfully, we got a gorgeous suite at the Pemberton Valley Lodge instead and were treated like kings, even giving us a discount because of what we had been through at the Gateway.

Dear Mr & Mrs RD... Yes Our good ratings speak for themselves. A Few points:

>Yes, we have no lobby or ground floor check-in. It may seem strange, if you've only stayed in a few name brand hotels. Its not so strange to those with more experience traveling. Its quite common around the world & especially in North American Ski Resorts with Apartment / Condo Hotels. So common in fact that most booking systems have a separate category for extended stay Apartment / Condo Hotels. Note: We have resident staff on call 24/7.

>Yes, the Office is Suite #211 2nd Floor. The Manager may be working about the building, please telephone him & he will guide you in & meet you at the office for Check in. Its Ok to talk to the man gardening & clearing snow because in all likelihood its the Manager :)

>Our halls are cleaned daily with touch ups whenever necessary - our guests are very good about using the door mats at the entrances. Yes, on the very rare occasion we have to follow someone's "little trail of bread crumbs" :)

>Our Hotel is like brand new, only fully open 3 yrs ago. Last Building Reno's done Nov 2012 / Dec 2013 expanded Restaurant & New Spa. New landscaping, New Fridges & upgraded WiFi just installed this month.

> Yes, we physically re-verify everybody's credit card & contact info at check in. As Pemberton has about 3 power outages a year, so we keep both electronic files & real old fashion paper registration forms ( later shredded after checkout).

>Yes, with Manager's discretion I may waive any penalty for last minute cancelations.

>We welcome all reviews by independent travelers (i.e.not associated with any competing establishments).

Chris was very accommodating with our group especially when we were short a room with the number of guys that came on the trip. He put us up in rooms to accommodate the extra people with minimal charge! Rooms were spacious, clean and perfect!

Nice to have underground parking for the motorcycles.

Will be back next time around!
