This is a special occasion and bring your out of town visitors restaurant. I bring both family and business guests and everyone loves it. Our family has marked many birthdays here. The south wall is totally glazed and the restaurant is well-designed with a tiered floor, so even tables farthest from the windows
get a view. Window-side tables offer a fabulous connection to nature and the harbour! Acoustics have been considered with sound absorbing materials, so even when full, the Salmon House is not loud; there is a comforting buzz; so you can always enjoy an intimate or romantic dinner here. The menu features fish and seafood of all kinds IN
SEASON. There are no menu
gimmicks here. The fish is grilled on alderwood or poached. The appetizers are tasty classics and the salads + vegetables are fresh and locally supplied. The desserts are
beautiful too. The wine list is reasonable- some good BC wines here- and the staff is knowledgeable, well trained and friendly in explaining both the menu and wine list. The Salmon House is higher-end, however also comfortably casual- with no pretense- unlike its neighbouring West Van view restaurant Fraiche. Worth the trip up the hill and worth the
rice.

In a place like this you always pay a bit for the view --- but of course, not everyone has one. I asked the server if I could get by on two appetizers and she said yes...the correct answer was no. Too small and expensive. Fellow diners enjoyed their halibut.

I wanted to impress my visiting friends from Scotland with not only wonderfull food but also the best view of Vancouver. We enjoyed the excellent service and food with only one niggle. People kept getting up and opening a fire door to go out and take pictures, leaving the door open and letting us feel the draft. The staff just ignored this.

Salmon House has been around for a long time - my recent lunch there on Mother's day made me wonder why it took so long for me to go back. The service was excellent - we were seated very quickly even though we were early for our reservation. Although window seats are best, you get amazing views from most of the restaurant.

The Lemon Parsley Pesto Wild Sockeye Salmon was amazing - full of flavour and not overcooked. The Halibut and Chips received rave reviews - very light batter which wasn't too greasy.

If you don't mind the drive, you'll be rewarded by the easy parking and great views of downtown Vancouver, the Lions Gate Bridge, and Canada Place. On the way home, stop in Dundarave Village in West Vancouver - so many great shops and of course the Savory Island Pie Company!

The food was excellent when I took n
My god-daughter, her sister and two trainee doctors here for a meal. The view is outstanding and the fish very good here. Fortunately so are the few meat dishes. A different aspect out of downtown Vancouver. Taxi fare is reasonable.
