Description: It can be described as a restaurant, coffee shop, caterer, boutique and evenart gallery, but The Truffle House & Café is truly a warm place to eat European cuisine at a very reasonable price. Philippe & Fabienne Chaber have created a cozyand comfortable atmosphere and offer a delicious combination of French, Italian and West Coast specialties that your taste buds will love.Fabienne was taught the art of gastronomy in France by Michelin Star chefs Michel Mico and Jean Sulpice. With Philippe, they managed one of the biggest gastronomy and entertainment resorts of the French Riviera (Cap d'Antibes), La Maison des Pêcheurs. In the kitchen, the "West Coast touch" is provided by Dundarave's very own James Hodgins, former Beach House restaurant executive chef. Part of their mission is to "democratize" the truffle – to allow people to add truffle, truffle butter, truffle oil, or truffle sauce to their meals at reasonable prices.

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised to find the Truffle House still open for lunch when we arrived at 2:20 pm on a rainy Wednesday afternoon. In fact, they stay open until 3:00 pm. The room was full when we arrived, attesting to the popularity of this restaurant. We really liked the warm and comfortable ambience of the Truffle House, especially welcome considering the weather outside on this Hallowe'en Day.

I ordered the vegetable crepe and my wife decided upon a goat cheese and spinach quiche. We started with the house wines (white for me and red for my beloved) while we waited for the arrival soon after of our menu items. The wines were perfectly fine and the meals were fresh and flavorful. The server was very attentive and checked back with us several times to make certain that our wants were well looked after.

The price for a casual lunch was reasonable. We enjoyed the whole experience.

Good food, good service, however the advertised $ 5.50 cocktails on the week end, advertised both on the menu and on the internet are only valid for lunch or brunch. Which was not specified on the menu, hope they corrected it.
For dinner we ordered a Martini and were charged $ 8.50 a piece.
Which we felt was way overpriced for a mediocre Martini.

Stopped in for a late brunch and had West coast Benny. The smoked salmon and avocado was fresh and delicious served on half a croissant, the eggs perfectly cooked with just the right amount of hollandaise. We substituted the potatoes for the salad which came with a balsamic dressing. Really really good!!

We walked the seawall to Dundarave in the hopes of trying the new location of the Bakehouse but it was closed - something about celebrating the holiday. We walked across the street to try the Truffle House and Cafe. Had to wait but found out later that it was more to do with problems in the kitchen than popularity. Very ordinary food experience bordering on poor. Turkey sausage was the highlight - spinach not cooked and cheese not melted in the crepe. Sorry but not likely to return.

Really cute place with very interesting decor. Lots to look at on the walls. When we came here, It's a quiet and intimate place, good for couples. The food is good and the service was surprisingly quick. Because it's so small, it could get full quickly but they take reservations.
