“Who doesn't like eating in a lighthouse?”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

I must admit we picked this restaurant based on both the reviews and the picture of Village Tap House. I loved the lighthouse 'feel' of the restaurant and it was near Ambleside, which was where we were heading that day. Had we dined earlier in the day, I might have opted for the sunny patio, but we were 'sunned out' and had a reservation inside.

Three of us had their burgers. They were huge and hard to get your mouth around, but delicious. One of our group had the Murph pizza and loved it. Two others had the mac and cheese, which was also great. Perhaps our favourite part though was the beer sampler. Two of us enjoyed the variety of three tasters. I would definitely return, but next time I'll go back and go shopping! Great outdoor mall with lots of charm (and two indoor malls if you haven't had enough).

We made our reservations via the UrbanSpoon app. Perhaps there is a TripAdvisor app that allows reservations as well, but I didn't check.

“Excellent customer service”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

My trip to Village Taphouse was a couple of months ago now, and I'm ashamed of not writing a review at the time because the service was excellent. Better late than never though! :

I visited the Taphouse with my fiance and we both ordered food for an early dinner. Due to a mix-up in the kitchen, my order wasn't processed properly, so the waitress promptly came out to let me know that there would be a slight delay and that they would provide an appetizer for me - free of charge - which she quickly returned with (endamame beans - they were very tender and tasty). Less than 10 mins after my fiance got his meal, my meal appeared, again accompanied by many apologies about the delay.

Both of our meals were delicious and fresh, and we enjoyed them very much. When the time came to pay, the Manager had taken the cost of my main meal off the bill to apologize for the wait. I thought this was an excellent (if even a bit unnecessary as we were really happy with our meals!) customer service touch and has led to me recommending this pub to many of my friends. Nice to see somewhere that still genuinely cares about looking after customers!

“Disappointed”
Reviewed April 25, 2013

We went here for lunch yesterday. There is outside seating. There is an extensive menu, with a variety of items. Staff were amicable. Hamburgers range in the $16. Salads basically start at $14. We both decided on salads: the chop chop and the Sierra. My Sierra had one pecan in it, a couple of strawberries and a very sparse sprinkling of feta on top. It also had halved grape tomatoes in it, which were not mentioned on the menu and I had two that had turned bad. Yuck! I left the rest. And, there was a hair in it as well. The chicken and avocado in it were good. There are too many good restaurants (Cactus Club, Milestones) around to return here again.

“Try the Pulled Pork Poutine!”
Reviewed April 20, 2013

Lovely, clean, comfortable bar in the Park Royal complex.

Friendly (and good looking!) staff who went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied.

The pulled pork Poutine is really tasty. We had it twice to share and the chef even served it to us in two half-sized bowls, which was really accommodating!

“Good Service/Good Food”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

This is a great family restaurant. Noisy, busy and crowded it is a great place to bring kids and not worry. The food is good as is the service. Parking in the Village at Park Royal can be a nightmare. Park behind the building if it is busy.
