After being on the go for weeks we chose to stay at the Lighthouse Inn for a little quiet time as each suite has a separate sitting room. It was perfect for our needs. The bedroom was highly comfortable and to be able to relax in the privacy of our own sitting room was just bliss. Hanna's attention to detail could not be faulted and her breakfasts to die for.

Blessedly close to Vancouver by both car and bus (#250 from Georgia/Seymour), Lighthouse Park is definitely one of Vancouver's best kept secrets.

Neither challenging nor boring, the multitude of possible trails is sure to please everyone, including families, who are looking for a genuine experience of old growth forests close to an urban setting. If an afternoon at Lighthouse Park doesn't mobilise you into forest activism, you need to have your pulse checked.

*Do take a map*. The park, and its rather weaving trails, are probably more complex than you anticipate. *Don't* just head on down to the lighthouse with all the other SUV drivers. The best trails, by far, are on the margins -- rather than the oft-trod jaunts down the centre. Juniper Trail is delightful, and its end point offers some great beginning rock climbing. Pine Shore Trail is a salt-air delight.

But our favorite is the neglected Arbutus Trail, which runs along the east side of the park. It's a long, solitary walk, which offers a surprisingly rich array of flora and fauna.

Lighthouse Park makes for a wonderful day trip, for both locals and tourists.

This is a fantastic natural park in an urban setting. The are some easy walking trails and some much more difficult hiking trails. The trails are very well signed, but make sure you pick up a map brochure on the way in, as it is easy to get lost on the maze of trails without it. Of the four viewpoints marked on the map, Juniper Point is the most spectacular with a terrific view north into Howe Sound, though it involves a significant climb on a difficult trail. The other viewpoints also offer nice views for not much effort, in particular the city view. The lighthouse view is nothing special. All 4 views can be seen in 1.5 hours, though there is lots more here to explore.

We loved everything about this place. The setting is amazing, and the walk in Lighthouse Park not to be missed. The hostess, Hanna, provides amazing cooked to order breakfasts, and the suite is a treat in itself. So beautiful. We had a wonderful, relaxing time. We were instantly in love with both the city and the bed and breakfast.
