My husband, seven year old daughter and I booked two nights at the Best Western Peace Arch Inn, Surrey, BC as part of our vacation in the area. We arrived at the Front desk just after 3pm. We were met rather coldly by a man who said his name was Abdul. When we booked a few weeks earlier, we requested a higher level floor for security reasons with our seven year old daughter. Abdul told us that no other room but a ground level floor room was available. We asked again for a higher level floor to which he responded they were sold out and it wasn't possible. We try to avoid ground level floor rooms because of security concerns. Despite this request, we asked to see the room he proposed to give us on the ground floor to which he responded a very strong “no, you can’t see the room. I’m the only one here and I can’t leave the desk to show you the room.” We said we have never stayed at a hotel where we couldn't see the room first and we have stayed at several Best Westerns in the past. Then he became belligerent and even ruder to us. He said “You come in here and start causing trouble and demand to see a room? I don’t need this, I don’t need you.” We remained calm and said we were going to lodge a complaint with Best Western. Then he said “Good I don’t need you. You can complain to them. You can complain all the way to the Prime Minister for all I care!” He also represented himself as the Manager but when we lodged the complaint right after that awful experience, we were told he was the assistant manager. No one with those poor social skills should ever be allowed to manage a hotel ever. We never heard back from Best Western customer service with any follow up so are skeptical as to whether anything was ever done about it. We managed to get a very nice room at the Pacific Inn Resort (pink hotel) and the service was great. They heard about our bad experience and offered us a free breakfast the following day. Unfortunately this experience has soured us on Best Westerns and we will look to other resorts like the Coast Resorts, which by the way were also wonderful on this same trip, especially the Coast Tsawwassen Inn. We work in public relations and reputation is paramount, especially in service industries like hotels. Unfortunately, Best Western got a failing grade because of one person and one bad experience.

The hotel was off the King George Hwy. 10 minutes from the U.S. border. Access is somewhat restricted if you are approaching it from the south, but there is a U-turn provision just north of the motel. A good continental breakfast and close to White Rock, a tourist resort in the summer. Front desk staff, especially one male during the week and days was very helpful and cheerful.

Ok for an overnight stop. Good for exploring White Rock but room itself was damp and musty. Staff were friendly and helpful but the area is not ideal Car broken into the night we were there, something felt unsafe. Not great. Could definitely get better in the area and not up to usual Best Western standards as breakfast was minimal at best.

We spent one night here on our way to Vancouver island last month as we were driving from Kelowna to the Tsawwassen ferry. The hotel is close to the highway and also close to the nice restaurants in White Rock The room was clean and perfect for us with all facilities inc fridge and Keurig coffee maker.
The receptionist (Sav) was very helpful and ample parking was available. Continenetal breakfast was included in the room rate but only about 10 people were able to sit down in the lobby

The Peace Arch Inn was a great place to stay if you want the basics in a hotel. It has a nice pool and exercise room. The breakfast was adequate and the rooms were comfortable. Free parking is always a plus. We were staying overnight with some friends and wanted to visit White Rock. The Best Western was by far the least expensive in the area. Even though we had to drive about 10 minutes to the beach area where parking is expensive it was worth it. If you are looking for a hotel with outdoor space this is not for you, but if you want a quiet, clean comfortable room I would recommend this.
