Like others, we've eaten here multiple times, and have never been disappointed. Values are good, food is plentiful, ambience is cottage-country-cute, and service has always been good and friendly. I love the French Toast Bagels for breakfast, and always enjoy the Cookhouse dinner specials through the summer months. Going back for more ....

As mentioned by some others, it may not necessarily have the fastest service (particularly if you aren't the only ones in there), but it's a nice, relaxed, 'cottagey' atmosphere where you can pleasantly chat with friends while you gaze out the window toward Kennisis Lake and the vast forests of the Haliburton Highlands.

The food's great - it's lots of comfort food, and I normally leave feeling full and contented. Add that to the fact that a small convenience store is attached, and they sell delicious Kawartha Dairy ice cream for dessert!! Yummmm!

I have eaten here multiple times. It's not a luxury fine dining place, but you get very good food for a fair price.

I saw some negative comments about service and wait time.. Those people probably hit a bad day. I had fantastic very friendly service whenever I was there, and the waiting times were "normal".

The food was good had 2 of the specials. The pulled pork was definitely the best. Fries are fresh cut and good. Now to the negative. Don't go here unless you have no time frame. The waitress was so slow and constintly ignored us. We had to ask for our bill after sitting for 15 mins. Then had to go up to the cash when we still didn't get our bill after another 15 min wait.

The food is ok...standard burger fare. However, it can easily take 2 hours to have just a simple burger or sandwich lunch. The problem is in the kitchen...not with the waitresses. This restaurant desparetely needs a trained short order cook who knows how to get food out the door. If there are more than just a few people in the restaurant, the kitchen is overwhelmed. Only go if you have LOTS of time.
