“First Class Bonnie View !”
Reviewed July 6, 2008

We stayed at the Bonnie View Inn for 5 nights in June & found the whole visit first class. The staff couldnt be more welcoming, friendly or helpful, nothing was a problem. The a la carte food was excellent, it's just a shame we couldnt have stayed longer & tried everything off the menu. Our room was elegant & comfortable, & overlooked the lake, with a jacuzzi in the corner. The only downside was that it was quite a dark room. Overall we would not hesitate to recommend the inn, as having stayed in quite a few places during our vacation this was by far the best.

Let me start by saying Haliburton and Kashawigamog Lake, in particular, are beautiful places to visit. There are quite a few full service resorts in this area and we've been to many of them but have found Bonnieview to be consistently excellent in service, quality and value. The location is only a short drive from the town of Haliburton so we usually enjoy spending an afternoon driving in and strolling around town but if you chose to spend all your time at the resort you won't be lacking activities to enjoy. On our most recent visit we played horseshoes daily, took a leisure canoe ride around the lake, played pool, relaxed and read, and enjoyed exquisite food both nights. Unlike some resorts there's a great selection of menu items to chose from. The first night I had a ham and chicken stuffed phyllo parcel served with potato and seasonal vegetables which was outstanding. When on the full plan your meal includes a choice of appetizer, main course and dessert. The desserts were fabulous! Service was very unhurried and friendly and we truly felt welcomed at this resort. If you're researching places to stay in this area I highly recommend you give Bonnieview a try. You won't find a better place at a better price.

The Bonnie View was the nicest place My boyfriend and I have ever stayed. Not to mention the amazing food and the outstanding willingness to meet all our needs by each and every staff member. We will be going back.

There was not one thing we didn't love about this place. It was quiet, the room was fantastic and the view was breath taking. While we were there the weather was mostly cloudy and some rain. That made no difference at all. It was so romantic, we just stayed in our room by the warm fire and enjoyed every minute of it.

We really needed some time to get away, relax and spend some time together. Since we came home we keep saying to each other "I wish we were at The Bonnie View"!

I recommend this resort to anyone except people traveling with kids. There is lots of things for them to do there, I just think it is a place for couples, or a group of friends. If you bring your kids, you will be wishing you didn't.

This is a wonderful place to relax.........The rooms were beautiful...........The food is fantastic........The service is excellent......... "all" the staff were so nice.
The Bonnieview is a small yet quaint resort. It sits on Lake Kashagawigamog, a fair size lake filled with Loons, we heard them every morning. We will definetly go back.

Had a great weekend at the Bonnieview! It has a beautiful location on a huge lake (Kashagawigamog). You have a selection of types of rooms but we picked the lakeview suites -
some of these have their own jacuzzis. Nice view, comfy king bed,
living room area with a fireplace and sliding door to the balcony
Also good size bathroom, very clean and lots of towels. Our room had tub and shower. Saturday was really warm so we spent most of the day sitting on their large patio which serves lunch in the summer. A very hearty breakfast and fabulous dinner ( from a large selection on their dinner menu) are included in the price and you have a fridge in your room if you want to bring the makings for lunch. Dinners here are amazing! The chef, Monty, really knows what he is doing - their are so many choices it's hard to choose and their are specials every night too. Salmon was great and so was the philo chicken, for beef lovers there is steak - also good. In your price you get an appetizer ( lots of choice here to- from salads to homemade soups to escargot)
Main course which comes with vegetables and poatoes, and then dessert - I loved the lemon meringue pie ! Oh yes, I forgot the fresh rolls that come first - yummy! and if you finish your basket they'll ask if you want another! The presentation of the food is done with flare - the food looks so pretty you almost don't want to eat it - almost! - it's too good to resist. You book your dinnertime at breakfast because on weekend's especially people can book from outside the resort -but guests get first pick.
The Sunday was quite a change in temp( Canada in May!- one day your in your shorts sunbathing and the next you need a coat)
So we spent the day driving around the Haliburton area and dropping in on one of the pottery makers _ got some great gifts at Ricki Woods. Then the afternoon we spent in front of our wood burning fireplace reading and enjoying the quiet of the world outside. This was a long weekend so we didn't leave until Monday. We left very full, contented, relaxed and ready to face the world again. Their are TVs and VCRs in the rooms but we like to get away from that on trips. there are also no phones in the rooms- you can bring your cell or you can use the lobby payphone-but we enjoy getting away from that too! In the summertime they have paddleboats ,canoes, and kayaks you can use, there's a golf course just down the road and there are lots of places to hike. There is also the small town of Haliburton nearby - looks like they have some cute stores - Maybe next time!
The new owners are really friendly and willing to meet any of their guests needs. Apparently if you e-mail ahead you can request special breakfast items too.
We had a great time and have booked another weekend in August - maybe we'll be a little more active that time.
If you are going with children there are 1,2 and 3 bedroom cottages too. There's something for everyone. Give it a try sometime soon - book in advance because in the summer they book up early for certain weeks and weekends.

Without a doubt the Bonieview Inn is one of our all time favourite resorts. We first happened upon the lodge some 15 years ago and we have stayed there at least one week a year every year since then. We have stayed there every season of the year and always enjoyed our stay. Andrea and Monty the owners, manager and chef are fantastic and Monty's cooking is beyond compare. There are so many things to do in the area from swimming, golf, fishing, hiking, cycling and skiing to simply relaxing with a good book or taking a few great photos of some of the wildlife or flowers in the area.
