My husband and I got married at the Domain of Killien in July 2003. We fell in love with the place itself as soon as we saw it, and the staff only emphasized our feelings.
The grounds and gardens were beautiful. (A fanstastic spot for wedding pics!). The cabins were so cosy - although they looked very rustic, they were appointed with all the modern amenities and were spotless. The only drawback was that there was no air-conditioning, but we had a slight breeze off the lake so it didn't bother us. They might have added air since we visited.
The main lodge was incredibly cosy with a wood-burning fireplace, and had a resident cat that curled up on your lap if you happened to sink into the very deep cushions on the couch! The staff was awesome - they bent over backwards to do absolutely anything to make our stay more enjoyable. And the food was absolutely to die for. I'm a fussy eater, and every single thing I had to eat during our two-night stay was incredible. Our wedding guests even commented on the fact that things they normally wouldn't have eaten were out of this world.
As for having our wedding there: I know we couldn't have chosen a better place. Beverley Shaw was our on-site coordinator, and not only planned everything to perfection, but is also a florist as well and designed the most gorgeous floral displays I've ever seen.
The Domain does stress that their guests are their to RELAX, so it's a fairly quiet place. No radios or TV's in the rooms, which is incredibly peaceful.
I would recommend the Domain without hesitation to anyone who wants a relaxing and romantic holiday.
