A historic fort within Jammu town on bank of Ravi River. Fairly maintained park is favourite hangout for Jammu residents and famous as weekend spot too. You can See Jammu town from the fort and is worth visiting once during our Jammu visit ..

“A beautiful fort n temple”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2012

Situated on a hillock on the banks of Tawi River. Built more than 3000 yrs ago, this beautiful fort was one of the first building blocks for capital city Jammu set forth by Raja Jambu Loochan. The main area has a temple dedicated to Goddess Kali, locally or popularly known as Bawe wali mata. Every sunday and tuesday this place comes alive with people from far off places coming to have darshans of the deity. During Navaratras, the aura and beauty of this fort and temple of course, is stunning. These days temple is heavily guarded because of the disturbances in the state. If you want some inner peace and do soul searching :) I would recommend going there on a weekday other than Tuesday. You would surely enjoy

“Oasis in a desert like Jammu”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2012

Jammu is a boring location with nothing much to offer for a traveller apart from acting as a transit point to Kashmir. I did enough research for sightseeing in Jammu to realise there are negligible options for an evening stroll. Bahu Fort & Gardens come as one of the jewels in Jammu. Fort is a small one which houses durga temple which does not look to be very well maintained. Fort offers a decent view of Jammu city being on a high altitude.

Garden is a must visit place. Entry charge of Rs 10 is peanuts. The garden is an architectural beauty spanning vertically from the height of the fort on the hill with multiple levels of gardening. Each level depicts a different gardening beauty and is well maintained. It offers a great cool breeze for a hot Jammu terrain of 40c+.
