“Very Average”
Reviewed January 29, 2014 via mobile

Visited this place with some friends, meals took ages to come out despite it was quiet. Woman who we thought was Manager spoke to her staff so rudely. Kinda ruined our day as we don't go out to see people getting abused. The worst part- the man standing around (who was continuously staring at us all the time we were there) made us all feel really uncomfortable. Never be back. You need a change of Management!! Really!!! Shame for such a lovely place

“Superb!”

Outstanding service from all three staff who waited on us. A small menu accentuated by lengthy specials of clean fresh and proud produce.

“Best Food and service on the Gold Coast”
Reviewed January 15, 2014

My daughter and I made yet another visit to our favourite restaurant on the Gold Coast to enjoy a pre-Christmas mum and daughter long lunch. The menu and specials are always so innovative that it is hard to decide what to have! Our plates were replaced after each course which I was really impressed by. We had a lovely lunch with sharing plates. Of course we will be back, it is the best of the strip of restaurants at Paradise Point.

“How to lose the plot.!!”
Reviewed January 8, 2014

Sandbar used to be one of the best 5 restaurants on the Gold Coast and then they doubled the size of the restaurant. The kitchen now struggles to follow the orders and there are long waits between the courses. The food is not as good and varied as before e.g. oysters served on a bed of salt ( NOT ICE ) were luke warm and the spinner crab with black ink spaghetti was much too salty for two people at our table. Suzy at the front of the house has difficulty keeping the whole place ticking over and the restaurant has become too noisy. They must try to stagger arrivals to help the kitchen cope and perhaps leave some tables empty to provide the level of service and the quality of food which was offered during the initial months of the restaurant's existence. These problems will only get worse if the tables on the terrace are also occupied in the evening. Hopefully the owners will realise that sometimes less is more and give some help to the excellent chef who continues to toil in a kitchen which is now too small for the number of diners most evenings.!! We will keep our fingers crossed but will not revisit for several weeks despite dining at Sandbar at least 10+ times during the 12 months of its existence.
