“Small but informative.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2014

This is a nice place that offers a chronological time line describing the European (in this case the first British) connection to Newfoundland in terms of settlement and trade. A better account is found in The Rooms museum in St. John's, but if you want the Reader's Digest version then this is it. You can pay a nominal fee for a video history.

“very interesting attraction”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2014

This venue is worth a visit indeed. It is a wonderful museum and the history of the area is presented so well. I did not even know that this was the first permanent English settlement! The staff is friendly and helpful and know their topic well. We are so glad we were made aware of this centre and hope you will visit it too. Not to mention that the area surrounding the Legacy Centre is so beautiful and picturesque.

We visited the archaeological dig down the street first. ,,a must see.
The history of the area was so well presented and very interesting. We would have spent even more time there if we could.

“Great exhibits, deserves more tourists”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2014

Great exhibits about the first English settlement. Their history is reflected in our modern day lives. The centre is well thought of with names of the settlers (early to recent), photographs, milestone events, videos, artifacts from the Cupids Cove Plantation site, portraits of Cupids’ busy times with the fishing trade, its many shops and the export of forest products.

The Legacy Centre also has everything you want to know about its first settler John Guy. A must see! The who, what, where, when and why of the area are revealed. The also hold many events, including fairy nights
A story deserving to be told, a centre deserving more tourists.
