Good for: Bar scene
Description: This Austrian inspired ski bar will win you over with it's old world charm and cozy ambience. In the winter ski season, 18 taps of frosty, locally brewed beers are offered here along with a long list of hot and cold cocktail drinks. Don't miss the amazing Elk Frost, a special recipe created by the Elysian Brewmaster! Find a table near the roaring fire and order up one of the best stone fired pizzas or a tall order of nachos from the Snorting Elk Deli. Don't leave without our famous cookies! Apres skiing bliss is here! One thing is for certain at The Snorting Elk- it's one of those places filled with character that you'll always be back to visit. During the summer, "the Elk" has more limited operations, but still offers the same old world charm. Enjoy outdoor and indoor seating. Great beer and drink service. A special summer time bar menu is available, as our Snorting Elk Deli is closed in the summer season. Stop by after your hike, round of disc golf, or mountain bike adventure to cool off and recharge. The Snorting Elk is an integral part of the Pacific Northwest ski scene. It was named Honorable Mention for the Best Ski Bar in the 2010 Resort Awards by Skiing Magazine. Also voted "Best ShotSki" by Skiing Magazine!

“Slowwwwwwwwww Service”
Reviewed July 20, 2012

I ordered two sandwhiches to go and it took them 40 minutes to prepare. It took so long that I got a beer from the downstairs bar and walked back up with it to sit by the door and wait for my food. The server taking care of my to-go order asked me twice if I paid for the beer (like I was trying to steal a beer that can only be obtained from behind the bar) since he couldn't locate the transaction is his computer. Perhaps the bar tender pocketed the cash and didn't ring it...
The food was fine, not great. It was the only open restaurant at the bottom of the mountain so we didn't have much of a choice where to eat. Next time I will bring food and grill myself.

“Location is everything!”
Reviewed April 5, 2012

This place has a great name and gorgeous, over-the-river-and-through-the-woods entrance that is simply magical. The interior boasts a raging fire and cozy booths with windows peering out into snowy woods. Kids cannot come in, as it is strictly a bar for over 21 crowd. We went twice midweek, and crowd was low key and mixed older/younger. Staff looked less than enthused but service was good. Beers on tap were varied local NW craft brews and standard faves. Tip: the bar on the top floor of the lodge at the base/lifts seemed far more festive/partyish/younger than this place, staff seemed to hang there more after hours, and the kids can join you at a table there.

“Deli Good but pricey”
Reviewed March 26, 2012

We enjoyed a pizza in the Deli after skiing. It was quite tasty. Also a good sized green salad. Prices were high, but as expected with a captive audience on top of the mountain. Their cookies are very good. If you are travelling with children, go around to the back to enter. They have a small deli with a few tables where children are allowed (rest of Snorting Elk is a bar).

Great ski area pub - average sandwiches & pizzas, but a great atmosphere. Real fireplace!

“Hands down amazing”
Reviewed February 1, 2012

If you are looking for great skiing conditions, amazing food, and a relaxing place to stay for a ski trip, this is the place. I stayed at the Alpine Inn/Snorting Elk for a 10 day vacation out west and it was by far one of my best ski trips I have ever taken. The Alpine Inn and Snorting Elk has a very Bavarian style atmosphere and appearance, ranging from the decor to the menu, all of which makes you feel as if you're right there in the Alps. The rooms are all cozy with great hotel service, and the location is perfect. Everyday I woke up, and could walk out to a path leading right to the slopes. From the great food, location and service, to the amazing conditions at Crystal Mountain, I highly recommend that you stay at the Alpine Inn and walk over to the Snorting Elk for a delicious meal and refreshing beer!
