We stayed for 2 nights at X2 in Kui Buri about 2 weeks ago. It was one of the most pleasant hotel/resorts in which I have ever had the pleasure to stay. We had a 2-story Suite Pool Villa that was right on the beach. The resort looks as if it came from the Frank Lloyd Wright school of design. Quite minimalist and modern. The resort's goal is to give the guest isolation and peace while at the same time allowing any level of pampering you desire, In our case they succeeded. I would have been just as happy to have never left the room. The room was spacious, clean and provided most creature comforts you would desire. The location is not for everyone since the resort is the only thing around, on the end of a dirt road. But that is precisely why I loved it so much. No noisy night life to intrude on your peaceful holiday. The restaurant/bar is open air and had great food with a nice selection of drinks. the service was excellent but not intrusive.
We rented a motorcycle for the day and rode out to a small fishing village and the beach and town at Ao Manao, a historic location with many sights to see, including a splendid little temple up 396 monkey filled stairs that provides a great panorama of the area. There are many other places to visit in the area if your stay is longer. Highly recommended if you can afford the rather high (for Thailand) prices. I would definitely go back when I feel like pampering myself.

The resort is very nice. I like their design. It's simply and charming to me. The room is very clean and comfortable. I love their pool, it's big. I could swim all day all night. I love it. The food is good. If you want to hide for awhile, you can spend your trip here. The rest i can tell you all is mark your calendar and spend 2 days at "X2 Kui Buri"

After a 5 hour drive from Bangkok(including stops for lunch and coffee)past Hua Hin,Pranburi and Kuiburi town, down a 2.5 km sideroad ending in a 300m dirt track you arrive at X2 Kuiburi.First stop is Reception,an open-sided box of quarried-stone walls(used throughout the resort),where cold towels and welcome drinks are served before an escort to your private villa. There are 23 accommodations, only 4 without pools, all with outdoor sunbeds.
For once, everything looks as good as the promotional photographs suggest.Rooms are cool, clean with spacious bathroms(shower only but there's one inside, one outside)and a quality Sharp plasma TV and DVD player.Lighting is innovative and unusual, dramatic and exciting at night.
There's one restaurant/bar on site called FK(fork)which serves good and reasonably priced farang and general Asian fayre. In fact, considering Kuiburi's remote location,an- cillary prices for laundry/F&B/spa treatments are very reasonable.
The beach is not Thailand's most beautiful but the sand is fine and you can take long walks along the shoreline. The small spa has a limited range of well executed treatments.
There's a new manager,Khun Mack, who lives on site and,due to the resort's intimate scale, takes a personal interest in guests' well-being.We had internet problems beyond the resort's control but they did their best to accommodate us.
Not a place for children, the stonework and open stairways would be dangerous, but a great place to take someone special for a few days.Highly recommended and with some attractive rates currently on offer.

If you're looking for a place to hide away from the hustle of busy city life or simply to take a break from work, this is THE place to be! Sited 3 hours away from bangkok city and amongst fishing villages, X2 Kui Buri stayed true to its tagline, "designed for the spirit".

The most memorable things notable about our stay was the friendly staff who provided personalised service with a smile at all times. The resort manager is well-travelled and hence understanding towards travellers needs. Some of the staff are also from the local towns so you can always ask for advice regarding things to do or places to visit. However, I might say that the beauty of the stay in X2 lies in doing absolutely nothing at all!

The beach is not the greatest asset but the views are beautiful nonetheless, especially when one dines at the restaurant. Expect nothing short of picturesque views at various times of day. Speaking of the restaurant, 4k (pronounced 'fork') offers great quality food and service too. Its unfortunate i didnt get to meet with the chef though. Seafood is fresh from the neighbouring villages and the presentation on the plates are done with pride.

Of ocurse, I think the architecture speaks volumes for itself, doesnt it? Believe, what you see in the pictures are exactly what you get

We were a group of 7 people, with 4 ocean pool villas, staying for 3 nights last November 2008. The place looks as good its web's photos; the staff tried as hard as they can be to accommodate our needs, even though a course in hospitality training would be advised for this class of hotel (eg. they could not find the direction to lead us to our rooms; and check-in/ out took forever).
We find that the location of the place is too inconvenience, too far from anything remotely interesting. Even though we had a car, and our own Thai driver, getting to X2 was not easy. The nearest restaurant is 20 mins away and unless you speak some Thai, there will be a communication issue. If you want to really get away from it all then this is the place.
However, the things that we did not like is that we are questioning the cleanliness of X2 communal pool which after one morning swim, some of us got eye infections badly (lucky enough that we had worn goggles and had eye drops ready to ease the pain). the private pool was not that clean either, hardly any pool maintenance that we saw whilst we were there.
X2 is not bad over all, but I feel that the place is better on design paper than in real life. It feels cold and spare as a minimalist beach house would be, if you are into that sort of thing. There is no logic in positioning air-conditioner, for example, so that all the cold air blows right out of the room, after disturbing the dust within the rock walls, this caused asthma attack to some of us.

The stairs that lead to the public terrace was rather precariously done, it doesn't have railing and is too dark to walk at night.

The path in the resort lit up timidly and tasteful but I hate to think of public liabilities cost if someone happens to slip and fall. We could never work out the purpose of the waterfall in the corner, since it is out of sight and making a racket of noise with no apparent purpose (feng-shui?)

At the time we stayed there, they decided to clean the outdoor cushions, and dried them on the common area. The commotion was fun if it was in a village, but in 5-star resorts, it was too strange.

I guess all this is a personal opinion and the reason why I did not review this place until now is because we are about to return to this area and decided to stay elsewhere. Also I thought of sharing my experience is the purpose of this web page, so that others can read and perhaps find it useful in making their decision. thanks for reading, happy travelling.

This was probably the best holiday decision we'd made in a long time. The hotel was lovely! It looks exactly as it does in the photographs.
I will try to honestly list the details of our visit there:
It was off the beaten track; but for us this was probably the greatest draw of it. After an extremely hectic/stressful year, we needed a place which transported us to a space of tranquility.
The room and service was wonderful...each room is a separate unit, so there is this lovely feeling of openness and freedom.
The bed/pillows were comfortable; i'm an extreme hygiene/cleanliness freak, and thankfully there were no problems!
The bathroom is a dream- i loved the outdoor shower which we used rain or shine, and in terms of toiletries and accessories it was well-outfitted.
Each room has a small book collection, while the resort has a central dvd library. We spent much of our time reading, listening to music, playing board games- in the room, by the pool, on the beach, on the deck. It was really a wonderfully inviting and happy place.
The hotel provided complementary bicycles and kayaks, which we made full use of; the area surrounding the resort is beautiful - rolling hills, green fields, traffic-free roads, and gentle waves.
The restaurant served an amazing complementary breakfast, with to die for croissants. Since there is no other restaurant in the vicinity, we had to eat all our meals here.I was distraught at first, but realised that their was a great variety of food, while their thai curries- recommended by the wonderful Mr. Wat (the maitre de), were amazing:)
The pool is large and ideally located with a distant view of the beach.
The staff is really helpful and sweet. They'll only show up when you need them!
During our stay at X2, there was some work being done on the pool (on our 2nd day there); we weren't troubled for long as we were upgraded to the pool villa:)
We loved the place, the design of every little thing. It was perfect.

If you looking for a hideaway holiday, X2 (Cross To) is your choice. The hotel itself is hiding in a remote fishing village about 45-1hr further south from Hua-Hin (their web site said 30 mins). It is so remote that about 2-300 m of the road to resort still a dirt road.

The service and facility is great. Each villa use rock as wall and has opening on the roof to let natural light in the room. Every villa also has free WiFi since their booklet say "Internet is like Oxygen, you can't live without it"

The only restaurant 4K (Fork) is a bit pricey (for Thais) and not many variety of food in the menu. However, the menu mention that you can ask for your favorite but I haven't tried.

They have the 'default no disturb policy', so you have to call them when you need your room to be cleaned. And you can check in/out "whenever you want" if the room is available or there is no guest waiting.

For the pool villa, it is not quite private. The tree around each pool is not dense enough. Perhaps it will getting better as the time goes by.
