Our Thai friends brought us here for lunch. During previous trips to Hua Hin, we have eaten at a few other seafood restaurants, including Coco 51 which is just a house away from Youyen. Like the other seafood restaurants we had patronized, Youyen enjoys a seafront location.
Restaurant's decor is basic with white painted tables and chairs. The inner dining section is sheltered while the one nearer to the beach is open-air. The open section is too hot for lunch but is popular for dinner.
Food preparation and service was fast. We ordered smoke-flavoured BBQ pork, phad thai, deep-fried small fishes, and somtam and mango salad with sashimi-style soft-shelled flower crabs. Food was unpretentious and tasty. In between our meal, we gazed out towards the sea and the beautiful view was a reminder of laid-back Hua Hin. Despite the afternoon sun, the cool sea breeze was refreshing.
The restaurant filled up quickly for lunch. The large private car park was an obvious convenience for customers.
