Palm Sweet Hotel
Reviewed February 6, 2014

We loved our stay at the palm sweet hotel because the staff Oun and Nood are so lovely that it feels like a home away from home. Food is delicious, cold drinks are always available and coffee and toast is free of charge in the morning. The rooms are clean and comfortable with a good shower and the location is just 10 mins bike ride from Ao Manao beach and 5 mins in the other direction to the night market and monkey mountain. Great people, great value, great stay :)

I don't usually go for places that don't have many reviews but i'm glad we went to Palm Sweet despite this. It felt like home, it was beautifully decorated and a sanctuary away from the busy traveller's life. It's 5 minutes on a bicycle (30THB to hire) to the centre of town, but there's not much in Prachuap KhiriKhan except the night market anyway. It is conveniently on the far side of town close to Wing 5, which is where Ao Manao beach is, so again it's only 5 mins on a bicycle to get there. The staff Oun and Nood were the friendliest we've met in Thailand, there were beers and other drinks available in the fridge and the food is limited but delicious. We had a big pile of clothes washed for 50THB which was a bargain in comparison to Hua Hin a little further up the coast. The room was spacious, air con, modern, clean and cosy. We loved it and loved our stay, excellent value for money!!

Room Tip: Ours was close to the railway side but the infrequent trains didn't bother us

we stayed 4 nights in a double, spacious room.
the room was clean and tidy. all facilities are clean and modern. the room had air con, a tv and fridge. toiletries were included in the bathroom too.
for the low price, this place is incredible. i am not sure if there is a better place for this price.
there is a free continental breakfast with coffee, fruit and toast. there is a nice front garden area and comfortable common area to have your meal or just relax.
the staff is kind and friendly, but unfortunately for us spoke limited english. we would have liked to enjoy more conversation with the staff as they were so kind.
bikes can be hired for 30b/day.
the location is not perfect but all is walkable. we were not bothered at all by the trains. there is a market right near by on thurs and weekend.
we were really pleased with our stay.

Room Tip: some rooms are bigger than others. ask to see a few if they are available .

This place has a lovely feel to it, is immaculately presented and is very clean. The only drawback is that is situated next to the railway line rather than lovely ocean views. There is motorbikes and pushbikes for hire or if you have your own vehicle then it is a quick trip to the surrounding attractions. The price is good value for money, there is a continental breakfast included and the host will go to any lengths to ensure you have a pleasant stay in this beautiful village.

Room Tip: Makes sure you dont get a room facing the railway line. Most rooms are OK.

Stayed here for two weeks in december-january 2012-13. The owner, Oun, is the perfect example of a good host. The hotel is cosy, very family friendly, and offers a lot of extras they don´t charge for. Rooms are Clean, AC-fitted, with fridge and TV, free Wi-Fi that works perfectly. Coffee and snacks are complimentary and so is drinking water. You can borrow bicycles for free. The only thing that bothered me a bit was the mosquitos of the type Aedes Aegypticae, a real plague in this part of the World, small, nasty, soundless and with a bite that gives big marks. They can spread Dengue, so my advice is to go to the pharmacy first and buy mosquito repellant. The stray dogs can also give you the creeps when they come in aggressive packs of four-five. Not possible to buy repellant for them though, perhaps a pepper spray just in case?
