My family vacationed in Siwash in June of this year—my wife, three daughters (23, 21 and 12) and me. It was on my wife’s bucket list for us to ride horses in the Wild West. Mission accomplished.
As we sadly departed Siwash on our last day, I asked the whole family, “can you give me just one thing that you didn’t like about our vacation?” No one could come up with even a single thing they would change. Neither could I.
It was beyond 5 stars. I can’t even begin to describe to you the different experiences. We stayed in the Caribou suite above the barn. The horses run free during the night, and every morning just after sunrise we would watch from our window as the herd came galloping back for the morning ride. None of our family had ever learned to ride before, but Allyson and her staff are incredible. By the time we left, she had us doing everything on horseback except jumping fences!
Every morning, the staff leaves a carafe of coffee and snacks at your doorstep – and this is before you go to the ranch for an unbelievable breakfast. My wife says I am now spoiled by this “pre-breakfast” ritual that started at Siwash! The whole landscape feels as if you have been transported to another time and another world. Incidentally, a day hike to Crater Lake and the waterfalls is not to be missed. In addition to the rides, we did some skeet shooting with Roy and Barney, a bit of fly fishing for some rainbow trout, and Allyson’s son taught my wife and me how to tie some of our own flies after dinner one evening. On the last day of our vacation, we even rode up on a black bear not 30 yards in front of the trail as he was busy digging in a tree for his lunch. We exchanged greetings and then calmly took a hard left turn down a different trail. Unbelievable experience.
This really is a completely all-inclusive experience. Gabby, the ranch photographer, is always shadowing your activities and, when we departed, she gave us a CD with 100+ pictures of our vacation. That extra service was priceless to the family.
Allyson obsesses over every detail of your vacation—she checks in with you at dinner every evening and confirms plans for the family. The food, the drinks, the horses, the countryside, and the Canadian hospitality are beyond exceptional. My wife and I have been vacationing together for nearly 28 years of our marriage to different parts of the world. Both of us agreed: this was the best ever.
