“Very good food”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

L'Etrier is located in Bromont, Québec and they have renovated the place, it looks amazing and the food is very good. You can have breakfast, lunch and dinner and the prices are good.

“Poor quality, poor service”
Reviewed January 4, 2014

Looking at the reviews for this restaurant, we simply could not pass it up and headed to L'Etrier for dinner. The restaurant was fairly busy, there were 2 waitresses, 1 good and the other rude and very clumsy as she overpoured our glasses of water into our dishes, tripped into our table, and initially brought the wrong order to our table. She also never came back to take our wine order.
The 2 entrees ordered the Riopelle mousse and the duck a l'erable were very good. The main dishes were awful. The Pintade was especially terrible, as it was dry and stuffed with a bitter sun dried tomatoe paste and sat on browning green spinach sauce, yuck!
The beef mignon was ok although tasteless and a very small portion for 30$. Furthermore, it sat on a bed of frozen veggies! (carrots, peas and cauliflower!).
Frankly we expected so much more from this restaurant in terms of the food quality and the service.
Stay away, downright terrible!

“The road that leads to a man's heart passes through his belly first. (heard in the Caribbeans)”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

We were shopping for a house in the area (early fall 2008) when we realized we were hungry but because it was a Monday, were going to end up in one of the fast food restaurants by the highway since all the other good ones were all closed.
But then we saw the sings "Nouvelle Administration" and "Ouvert" before turning on the traffic light, right by l'Étrier.
And boy!, are we happy we did!
Mariane welcomed us in a simple and friendly way, explained to us that all the food they served came from organic growers/breeders of the area. Being a sommelière (wine steward?) she then suggested a few bottles -some of which also came from regional organic vineyards; one can really feel their steadfast loyalty to the area producers and the attention they pay to "real food"-.
But most of all, she really made us feel welcomed.
Dominic her life partner, prepared us an out-of-this-world meal that turned out to be a nice surprise. Full-flavoured vegetables, perfectly cooked meat, dessert to die for. On the whole, what is striking about Dominic is his prodigious talent for cooking pretty much anything that can make you dizzy with pleasure.
So we moved in the area and Mariane and Dominic are now our neighbourly friends. L'Étrier has become "our restaurant"...; so much so that we got married there the following year! (because they feed groups too!)
...And yes, it all started in our bellies, but it is now deep into our hearts...

“Enjoyable meal”
Reviewed August 8, 2013

Service was excellent & accommodating. Made reservation thro email (got a reply quite quickly). Had the smoked duck appetizer which was very nicely done. Ordered the pork cutlet (flavourful, tender & juicy) , scallops & chorizo (done just right), hormone & antibiotic free steak (done very well with lots of flavour). Dessert was the nougatine & crime brûlée.which the kids loved & devoured. Overall a good dinner.

“Fantastic Meal!!!”
Reviewed August 1, 2013

The food here is FANTASTIQE!!! My husband, son and I had the most amazing meals. The gnocchi was awesome, as were the scallops and trout. We shared a honey vanilla ice cream dessert which was out of this world. Service was great. Not very busy the night we were there. Everything was delicious. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. It's not right in the village but it's well worth trying. Prices were reasonable for the high quality.
