Located just across the highway from the Skimmerhorn Inn, it looked clean and new. The food was 100% fresh, hand-made and delicious! And not expensive at all. A travel slide show of Poland and area played on the TV at one end of the dining room. I'd go out of my way to stop here again.

We stopped by for lunch at Chatka’s. A family run restaurant with about sitting for 40 inside plus it has a summer patio available. It’s specially is Polish Dining. It was a cool overcast day but the inside was very clean, bright and cheerful. Our meal was quickly served. We had borsch, perogies, potato pancakes along with coffee. The bill ran about $17 each. The food prepared by the owners Jadwiga & Andrew Niemiec who we did not see much of as they kept very busy in the kitchen producing excellent tasting food. Our waitress Ania was pleasant and professional. We will be going back again.

Stopped for lunch today: we had nice-sized servings of Borsch and Hunter's Stew (cabbage, sauerkraut, sausage), both with a bun, $5.25 each. Both dishes agreed with our palates and stomachs, which so much restaurant food does not!
The "Chatka" is immaculate, bright and warm (south-facing, full of the winter sun on this clear day).
Looking forward to trying more of their delectable-sounding Polish dishes: potato dumplings, schnitzel, and of course cabbage rolls and 6 flavours of pierogi.
So, before I finished the review, we decided to go back for dinner tonight with relatives.
And again, we thoroughly enjoyed the "Chatka" culinary delights. Tried all of the above dishes, and finished with some of the fruit-filled pierogi...all delicious! There is no doubt we will be eating there again when we are back in Creston.

If you are looking for a good eastern european fare at a reasonable price, this is it! Great service, nice patio, and more importantly, copious amounts of very tasty fare. Easy to find, right on the #3 highway on the eastern side of town. A very nice stop while you are in the Kootenays.
