I do not normally write a negative review for anything if I can avoid it. There is enough negativity in the world. The problem is that the reviews I am seeing on this hotel seem to be written through rose coloured glasses….

This was actually our third stay at this hotel. We have been coming back as it is a convenient halfway point in a 10 hour drive and the kids like the hot pools. This time I decided to make a destination of it and spend a few nights instead of just the usual late arrival and early checkout.

Staying here for more than one night was a mistake.

Yes, the same relaxing hot spring was here as were the other amenities, but I got a chance to see the environment here for what it really is - which is depressing. The Staff here are completely dis-empowered to do anything. If you want an extra towel, be prepared to wait for 15 minutes while they phone around to whatever manager they need for permission.... You need an extra hour at checkout? - wait for 20 minutes to have them come back and say it is not possible...... even on a Monday morning.... really?? Most of the staff is putting on a good soldier's face around here but you can tell they are completely oppressed and depressed at being stuck working here. I feel very bad for the staff.

UNFRIENDLY

The staff that are not putting on a good soldiers face are downright grumpy, making one uncomfortable to even approach them, let alone get some basic service that a guest would like to receive.

EXPENSIVE

The room rate could be considered reasonable at first glance, but considering one can rent a vacation short term furnished condo that sleeps 8 ppl just down the hill for 50 bucks less per night than the simplest rooms here, it is not a great rate.
Add to this that unless you have a specific room, you are pretty much held hostage for meals and snacks by the hotel. This is bit inconvenient, but is nothing compared to the outright abuse of the prices of the food and beverages in this hotel. Very expensive for medium quality.

BOTTOM LINE

For a one night stays where you are unlikely to have to request anything of the staff or management, or have to interact with anyone, you are probably going to enjoy what they have to offer if you are willing to overpay.

I certainly know that I will never use this place as more than a stopover again in the future.

Room Tip: All of the rooms in this hotel seem relatively run down. If you like to be able to exit your room di...

We were pleased with front desk staff. We arrived before check in time and were given towels and a pass to use the pools while our room was readied. At 4:00 the room was still not available and were given an upgrade. The suite was great, 2 queen beds, pull out sofa, kitchenette and table. Good size.
The staff were more than accommodating. We left a wallet in our suite and they mailed it out the next day.
We visit twice a year and will definitely return.

The rooms were nice, there was a credit if you opted out of house keeping services. Most staff were very friendly. There were a few gliches with shortage of staff in the coffee shop. We would literally have to hunt down someone from another restaurant to get service. Poor service all 3 mornings we were there. Good thing we had the voucher and some of it was free. The most amazing part of the hotel is the staff that work out of the hotel for I believe tourism BC. They run all the activities for around the area. You can go kayaking, horseback riding or yoga on the wedding platform. All those ladies were amazing and knew how to relax yet be professional at the same time.

We visited Fairmont Hot Springs Resort for a weekend getaway. We booked the "Romance" package and were delighted to find a chilled bottle of champagne waiting for us in our room upon arrival. We also booked a couples massage during our stay. The food was generally good and the service was very good as well. This isn't a five star resort, but we enjoyed our stay nonetheless.

The room was very nice, the pools are fun, but the overall service wasn't that great. We had supper in the restaurant and the service was painfully slow (and it wasn't busy). The breakfast buffet was what you'd expect from a Super8 (dry pastries, warm eggs & bacon, warmish waffles), and the service wasn't any faster or better. We called the front desk to see about getting a later checkout and she said, "I suppose I could give you an extra 30 minutes." We had the "do not disturb" sign on the door and we came back from breakfast to find housekeeping had been in our room. Not really impressed with our visit.

Tis was our second time here, first time was in 2006 and we were hoping that this stay was as nice as the first. It was!!
The public hot springs are OK, but you share them with who've wants to buy a day pass. The resort private Hot springs are what we come for because only people paying to stay at the lodge get rouse them. Our room was very nice and the hot springs were great. The restaurant o premises is good, but we found eating in the lounge nicer for us. Nice strolling around the old springs on the hillside too. It is pricey, but worth it. Try and grab a special for the room rates by asking the reservation isn't if anything is available. We got one night discounted.

Room Tip: Second floor down the end of the hallway we found to be best. Closer to the lobby and your balcony l...

We visit this resort a few times a year, and we always enjoy our stay. The pub offers great food, great prices with outstanding service with daily specials. We were there during Canadian Thanksgiving. We had the Thanksgiving buffet dinner at the Mountain Flowers dinning room and it was AMAZING!

It's a popular spot during long weekends so expect large crowds at the Hot Springs Pool (included in our stay) But who cares, I had no problems relaxing and enjoying the scenery, not to mention there is also a guest pool, gym sauna and cold plunge.

The resort is dated but I say this with character, it is clean and well kept and the lands keeping is inpecable with mature trees and flowers absolutely beautiful! Rooms are large and renovated, clean, comfortable and cozy with fast wifi and wired connection.

And the reason why I did not give this resort a 5-star rating is because every time we stay here we always have issues at checkout so always double check your charges fees when you checkout, and who ever is in charge of reservations I find her a bit arrogant and her customer relations skills need work. It has been brought up to management at our last stay but I see she still stuck in her ways.

Nevertheless I will return with my family over and over again!
