“Great homebase for Columbia Valley adventures!”
Reviewed December 28, 2010

Great location, clean and lots of amenities. Cook (full kitchen all equipped) and clean (washer and dryer) while having a great time at Panorama, Radium Hot Springs, Toby Creek Adventures, and of course Fairmont Hot Spring. A quick drive to Kimberley or Fernie makes this great. Set a roaring fire every night, rent a movie and do a little R&R.

The views are breathtaking. The people are incredibly friendly and this is a great place to rest your head.

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, and many many years later it’s still beautiful. Picturesque setting in the mountains and with the lake so close fun activities surround you. The rec centre is still great, stocked with games, acitivites, pool, and pool tables, you can meet new friends or just sit on the deck with a book and ignore the world. 5 minutes from the Hot Springs, and a short drive to Invermere the location is ideal for a family vacation. The staff can always point you in the right direction, especially to the wine tastings! Can’t wait until next year’s trip.

We stayed in a one bedroom condo off the golf course which had an amazing view, but the mosquitos were so bad you couldn't appreciate the view. The mosquitos swarmed around the entrance to the condo so we all had to run into the room. When we were finally inside, it was old, stale and hot. There was no a/c so we opened the windows to where the screens had holes or did not fit on the window properly. When wanting to speak to the front desk there was no phone so we walked to the center where no one worked until 9am. When we finally did get to speak to someone that worked there, she was rude and annoyed with the fact that we were there. (It was obvious that the front desk staff do not like working there either!!) She also told us that there was a 3o day cancellation so we would have to pay for any cancellations. If you want to sleep, the beds are old and uncomfortable! Even if you do get to sleep there is no a/c and if you do dare to open the windows to allow the mosquitos to enter, the sprinklers will go off at 3 am 5 am and 7 am right outside your window!!! My child's face was covered with mosquito bites when we finally left!! There is also no restaurant. The workout room is old and of no use. I also DO NOT recommend the FAntasia park next to the hotel as it is also animal cruelty.

Thank you for your comments regarding your stay with us. We are constantly refurbishing and do make upgrades as needed. We do not have phones or air conditioning in the units however A/C units can be installed upon your request while you stay with us. Unfortunately we can not do too much about the mosquitoes other than put up with them for the couple of months they are here. Living in the country as we do, we find lots of bugs and wildlife that can make our days and nights a bit uncomfotable however they are usually gone by September.

This was the 2nd time we stayed in this resort. We thoroughly enjoyed both stays. The villa is 2 story, spacious, and well equipped. It has 2 large bedrooms, two baths and a loft. Five years ago our loft only had a table and chairs, the unit we stayed in this year had a queen size murphy bed in the loft. The unit can easily accommodate 6. We were only 2, so we had lots of room to spread out. The kitchen is well equipped and one good feature is a gas grill on the deck. We were by the pond and it was very quiet. We had gone to BC to ski, unfortunately the conditions were not great. Panorama is a short distance -- about 30 minutes -- and Kimberly about one hour drive. The resort offers discount lift tickets to Panorama, something we don't remember from our previous stay. They also seem to be offering more activiites jointly with the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort, which is just up the road. There are several golf courses close to the resort and it is close to Columbia Lake. We routinely saw deer, ducks and big horn sheep around the resort. There is plenty of hiking, fishing, golfing, boating and skiing (if the weather cooperates) in the area. We're going to try the fall next time!

We stayed in the one bedroom loft using a timeshare week, not a alot of privacy if you want a nap. However we spent the extra $28.00 CDN for highspeed modem rental and that was a good idea. It is golfer heaven there, which was lost on us nongolfers, we were on the 12th hole which was the putting green. A couple of things to note if you plan to go, there are places with real fireplaces and others with electric, so if you prefer real wood fire, you may want to request it, Now we were there in Early September and I awoke each night to the sound of 7 sprinkers spraying full out on the green, can't imagine how loud it would be with the windows open.

Thank you for your comments, we are in fact the middle of "golf valley" which can be a bit overwhelming for non golfers, but with so many things to do and see in our valley... everyone finds something for them. Thank you again, we always appreciate feedback from out guests. We hope you come stay with us again.

The Canadian Rockies out the front door, the Purcell’s across the valley, the 12th green off our deck, the head of the Columbia River in the distance, white water rafting on Toby Creek, canoeing on Lake Invermere, swimming in the hot springs, horseback riding. Who could ask for anything more? Except for a little more rest perhaps...we were busy.
I save "5" ratings for the best, almost perfect resorts and our timeshare trade, unit A6 was a bit worn; especially the carpet. Having said that, we we loved it!
The views and activities were excellent! The beds were comfortable. There were plenty of towels, dishes, etc. There was also plenty of detergent for washing dishes and clothes. We had our own very nice gas on the deck and we used it several times. The 2 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 sofa bed unit had plenty of room for our group of 4 adults and 2 kids, but 1 bedroom and bath were upstairs and there were stairs to get in the front door and off the back deck which make this unit not handicapped friendly. The beds were comfortable, there was 1 TV and no phones, but cell phones do work.
It was quiet…we never heard noise from neighbors, but I'm not sure they didn’t hear noise from us playing Rook, Go Fish or Hide-n-Seek. Hopefully the wonderful sounds of the creek running down the nearby hill and into the pond right off the back deck covered up our sounds.
Check in/out is at the recreation center was quick and painless. They have lots of board games for checkout, a pool table & shuffleboard table, movies for rent, an indoor pool & hot tub, an outdoor hot tub + very large hot tub, a lounging area with big screen TV, a work out room, a dry sauna, tennis/squash/racketball courts, internet available for a fee and plenty of activities for grown-ups and kids all week long. They charged a small amount for renting 4 tennis rackets and balls. There was a 2-minute boil requirement for drinking water, but they had reverse osmosis generated water available at the recreation center which we used for coffee and ice after buying a couple of gallon jugs of water at the very expensive grocery store in town.
Groceries, beer and liquor were expensive every place we tried (in town and in Invermere which is 30 minutes away). They might have been less expensive in Cranbrook, but it was an hour away and our vehicle was too full of people and baggage to stop on our 3 ½ hour drive from Kalispell MT to Fairmont Hot Springs. Twice we grilled a delicious marinated salmon we got from Sobey’s grocery store in Invermere. Oh by the way, Sobey’s doesn’t sell beer, wine or liquor.
The granddaughters also loved seeing the wolves at the wolf retreat in Golden, 1 ½ hours north of the resort. We returned from the wolf retreat on highway 1 with a stop at Lake Louise and then south on highway 1, turning off on highway 93 before Banff which added about 2 hours to the trip, but we saw 4 black bears, a bunch of deer and some beautiful scenery.
We were busy the whole week and even spent the last night at Lake McDonald lodge in Glacier National Park. It was a 4 hour drive from Fairmont, but was less than an hour from the Kalispell airport.

We are a family of 4 (2 teenage children) and we thoroughly enjoyed the ambience and atmosphere at Mountainside resort. The townhouse style chalets are perfect for the forested mountain setting with all the amenities you can imagine. The recreation center is wonderful and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The skiing and the hotsprings were an added bonus. I would recommend this resort to singles, families and retirees.
