“SO much misinformation....this is how it really is!!”
Reviewed May 9, 2012

Okay so here is the real deal....this is our home resort and sorry to say but there is a lot of false or incorrect information in the reviews I have seen. We have been travelling the world together for four years and so we do have some experience in time share accomodations. First of all this is a terrific resort - PERIOD!! The interiors are not dated - these are some of the nicest units around. The are always doing maintenance and upgrades and trying to make the resort the best it can be and they do it well! We have stayed in units far inferior to these in most of the places we have been and in fact have only ever been in one other time share unit as nice as these and that was in Kauai. Otherwise you don't get this quality at most resorts. We have stayed at Riverside units and this visit was in Hillside. The units are beautiful and in good shape. Maintenance is excellent with only minor flaws but overall in 5 star shape. As far as layout goes it is typical of most resorts. The sofa bed looks mighty uncomfortable but my parents slept on it and if it didn't bother them - well what else can I say?? That was my main complaint in all and the tv's are older but flat screens cost money and I am sure are on the list of upgrades. The internet worked great in our unit which was in the 8000 building. The pools were down due to boiler problems but as promised at check in were fixed and working only a few days into our stay. The amenities are excellent with on-site movie rentals and a small store. There are lots of local stores and services within a stone's throw away. This is a beautiful location and for some reviewers that couldn't find the mountains well frankly they are morons. The Rockies are literally right behind the resort!!! Boring? slow? nothing to do?? I am totally perplexed! There are so many things to do it boggles the mind!! Kayaking, golf, tennis, mini-golf, bowling, hiking, cycling, nature tours, 3 National Parks within a 90 minute drive, several hotsprings etc etc etc. Fort Steele is an hour away as are Kimberly. The sight seeing here is second to none!! We went to Whiteswan Provincial Park about 50 minutes to drive from here and saw bears, moose, deer, elk, grouse and various waterfowl among the lakes and mountains. There are Bighorn sheep near Radium as well. This area is like a second home to us and the staff here are very friendly and accomodating. Frankly if you are wanting for anything to do here or think the amenites and accomodations are lacking then you are likely a spoiled brat and couldn't be pleased anyway! We have been around and this resort experience needs no improvement as they strive for excellence and in our opinion - Achieve it!!

Room Tip: A side units tend to have the private balcony with the best views!

The good: clean, fully equipped with laundry and BBQ, nice location for various ski hills.
The bad: not much noise barrier from the suite above. Don't care to listen to other guests pee. Suite and decor getting dated. Hot tubs at rec centre always under repair.
The ugly: sofa bed was horrible - worst I have ever seen.

I just finished one week vacation at this villas. The furnitures were so old that if you leave it by the side of the road no one will take them. The sofa bed, was so terrible that no one could sleep in it. They put us in a building which was totally isolated and outside of the resort with no aminities nearby.
On top of all the inconveneince is $75 / hour charge if you check out after 10 AM. They are serious about collecting this fee and I beleive this is just an excuse to rip you off. I had never seen 10 AM check out before and I never had to pay penalty for an hour late check out.
More than the penalty, the unjustice and greed made me angry.
They should spend some of the income in updating the existing faciliies rather than just keep adding new building. There is no single plant or landscaping in this resort and the roads are trebbile. I guess becuase most of their customers are timeshare users and already hooked up with no choice, they simply do not care about customer openion and satisfaction.

Enjoyed the 1 bedroom and full kitchen apartment at Hillside. It has a huge jacuzzi tub in bathroom. Apartment is quite large, two couchs (one is a sofabed), TV in living room and bedroom. Great to have a BBQ on the deck and the washing machine and dryer outside in the shared small hall outside the apartment.

Recreation centre has activities during the day that you can sign up for. Game room area with shuffle board (free), pool table ($1.75) etc. The gym looks well equipped. They also have a computer and printer for your use but at a cost.

It is a good location for skiing .... close to Panorama (40 minutes), Fairmont Hot Springs (10 minutes), Kimberley (1 hr 10 mins). Nearby our the Hoodoos (rock formations), Radium Hot Springs, and Fairmont Hot Springs. There is free entry to the Fairmont Hot Springs for the same day if you buy a Ski Lift ticket.

There is a small supermarket in the strip mall nearby.

If you are travelling with a young famliy and want to have room to hang out without the drive up to Panorama. this is a great place to stay. Within 10 minutes os this resort you can enjoy skiing. The hill is perfect for family and is not busy which is great. Also around this area you can enjoy golf, hoodoos as well as fishing. The town of Invermere host some cute shops and is about 20 minutes away.. We stayed at the riverside condos and found the accommodates more than adequate. Could have use a better store for shopping as prices and selection was limited and high. Bring some food with you if you can as it would be worth the effort. Invermere has a larger store for shopping. The Petro Canada on the corner of Highway 93 is also a good place to stop and fill up if coming from Calgary.

We stayed at Hillside. It was very nice classy looking resort and the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a problem right off the bat, we couldn't find the joint for over 1 1/2 hrs. We didn't know the Vacation Villas was behind the Riverside Golf Club sign on HWY 93/95. We had to ask around. Finally we find the resort but then the check-in area isn't marked with signs and that all three resort areas use one central check-in building. It was at night when we arrived and all three areas also share with the golf course which added to the confusion. The whole area is several square KM's!! We kept driving up and down through the Hillside Villas looking for the check-in office when all the time it was in the Riverside Villas. I included with the review a map provided by the hotel, recommend you take a look as it make first time visitors have a better check-in.

Point of interest, the two bedroom units come with a fireplace, cook oven and a jet tub but the one bedrooms don't. We do get free in suit laundry/local telephone calls, central vacuum, cook top range, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, dishwasher, patio gas BBQ, two CRT cable TV's, WiFi and a walk through bathroom.
Sept. 30th they close the heated outdoor swimming pool no matter what and the indoor is in the check-in building, a 5 minute walk. The exercise room is also in the check-in building. The public hot springs is a 5 minute drive across HWY 93 to the Fairmont Lodge. Bring your room key for $1 off the $10 price per person. You really have to read through the literature to find that piece of triviality. The hot springs have a diving board, swimming pool and very warm wading pool.
Nobody mentions the WiFi till you get there either. This could be because the signal is weak as it is broadcast from another building, probably the Rec. Centre. It did work although I was kicked off a few times due to weak signal. I just stuck a coat hanger under the laptop and was able to view movies.

Saw deer that sleep on the grounds at night. Invermere has the only canoe rentals for two hours on Lake Windermere under Invermere's main town bridge. Bring snow tires or put tire chains that fit in the trunk, unnecessary for early October but it is the law in British Columbia; Oct. 01 to April 30th. Nobody mentions this piece of triviality, ever. Never the less, we enjoyed ourselves, nice break from city life.

We stayed across the river in the 8000 building. The unit was modern and very spacious, with a very comfortable king bed, big jacuzzi tub, granite/stainless steel, etc. Very nice. Being across the river, we had to walk on the highway to get to the rest of the resort and it would be nice to have had a walking trail around the premises. We enjoyed golf at the resort and other courses in the area with our discounts from the front desk. We found the resort staff to be very friendly and accommodating. We were on the ground floor and our neighbors above were jumping all day long. The resort staff took care of it right away for us. The hot springs is "so-so" for the price of $10 each. We preferred the rustic Lussier Hot Springs for free at Whiteswan Provincial Park, and had a great time visiting with others there. The best part of our experience at this resort is that we were not "hounded" by time share sellers. No phone calls, no requirements to set an appointment prior to getting our parking pass (really, this has happened to us).... nothing. That alone made our stay a wonderful time and we will come back.

Room Tip: The 8000 building is the newest, and apparently the most modern. Stay in this building if you don...
