No matter what you are doing in Auckland, the Emerald Inn is extremely well located and serene and peaceful. Close to many good eating places...easy access to Motorways or you can easily catch a ferry from Devonport to the city
The owners of this delightful place cannot do enough for you.......courteous and helpful office staff and .......you must relax in the morning and let "Terry " cook you a wholesome b/fast.
A great stay

We stayed at one of the villas - was like a little cottage/2 bedrooms, with every convenience. Was across the road from the beach and a lovely cafe, Very handy to many other restaurants and cafes. The villa was very clean, spacious - even had a dining room and outdoor seating with barbecue.
Would stay again. Friendly, helpful people at reception.

Has a lot of good points like nice setting and close to ammenities, beach, restaurants, shops etc. The prices charged for everything are over the top and the advertised sky TV will only give you a couple of channels.

Having travelled 18 hours from a stopover in Dubai from the UK, this accommodation was ideally situated just 40 minutes from the airport, taking you around Auckland and ideally placed to head to the top of the Island. We stayed only 1 night on our way to the Bay of Islands. The accommodation was very clean and ideal for our requirements but I would comment that the staff were not overfriendly, either on reception or during breakfast. The apartment was also not as light as it could have been due to the overgrown plants in grounds. I booked the accommodation from the UK through the motel's website and now having travelled around NZ realise that this accommodation was over priced. We stayed in some excellent accommodation around New Zealand at very reasonable prices and the Emerald Inn Motel was the most expensive of all our accommodation.

  • Liked — Ideally situated in Takapuna within working distance of beach and town centre
  • Disliked — Staff not very friendly

Having stayed here several times on visits to Auckland, our recent experience was very much as we expected. Takapuna is just out of Auckland, has a good beach, nice shops, some good restaurants (particularly Aubergine) and is away from the bustle of Auckland but the city is easily accessible. The Emerald Inn has numerous self contained units,is very comfortable and has lovely gardens. We feel its's a great place to recover from the long flight from the UK and a good start to a NZ touring holiday.
We would suggest NOT driving into Auckland but getting the very cheap, frequent ferry from Devonport. Great water views of the city and no worries about parking. Auckland is very easy to navigate on foot. We always have a warm welcome and would recommend this Inn for all including those with children. 2 Minutes down the road on the beach is a good cafe/bistro offering excellent food and ambiance, only open for breakfast and lunch.

Just returned from some fun family time in Auckland, where we based ourselves at the Emerald Inn. The rooms where very clean, serviced daily, nice and early and the unit contained all we needed, (we had a 2 bedroom suite) The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the inn seemed pretty quiet during our stay. Didnt make use of the in house breakfast service instead chose to self cater breakfasts and eat out for dinner, many good restaurants within a 5 minute walk. The inn is in a great spot for travel all around Auckland only 10 minutes by car into downtown Auckland or take the ferry from Devonport to avoid parking hassles.
Would definitely stay here again.

It is interesting that I am not the only person to have been treated very badly by rude management at this hotel.

Two friends booked into this hotel and asked me to call them in Unit 3. I called the hotel and asked for Unit 3 - they asked for the last name of the booking. I knew one of the last names which I gave and the first name of the other party. I also explained the couple, with two little kids in tow, had just checked in 30 mins earlier.

The manager then told me that he wouldn't put me through, that it was 9:30 at night and too late, that I should never bother him nor call the hotel again and that I was an idiot!

I was shocked!

He then swore at me calling me a '[--] tosser'! Along with a few other nasty words.

Then he started laughing...it sounded like he had had too much to drink.

I really couldn't believe it.!
