Field is a crazy location - it's a small town next to the railway line in Yoho national park. There are two places in town to eat, 'Truffle Pigs' in the lodge and a cafe/general store across the road. The food in Truffle Pigs was not cheap, you could easily run up an $80+ without trying. The railway line runs next to the town, so if you are a light sleeper you could find the noise disturbing, I found it fascinating watching the Rocky Mountain Express trains and the freight trains go through. Field seems to be a train driver changeover point for the trains so there is a lot of activity on the tracks. (so this may be a good place for a trainspotter to visit)
The rooms had nice bedding, but the TV in our room didn't work (room B3) so they swapped it with another room and there was no bedside light for reading which was annoying. Instead of the usual complimentary toiletries in the bathroom there was a soap and shampoo dispenser in the shower. The staff in the restaurant can be very flustered if there is an unexpected rush, people were waiting 45 minutes to get a table. Breakfast was not included in the rate of $175 and their restaurant didn't open until 8am.
