John is the most caring and attentive host! We were welcomed in his gorgeous and cute cabin with beautiful music and we felt immediately at home! A great little gem in the Rocky Mountains. Situated in Field, very close to some great hikes, only 26 km from Lake Louise. Very quiet location away from all the hype.
John makes sure you have everything you need and more!
Highly recommend his cabin and would love to go back there.

“Perfect!”

Sometimes it takes several trips to a certain destination to get it right. We were lucky to find the Burgess Lookout Guest Cabin on our first trip to the Lake Louise area, and we have been staying here ever since, for about six years! First of all, John is so warm and welcoming and nice to work with. Emails are returned promptly. There is always a cheery note for us and classical music on the radio when we enter the cabin. The cabin is always spotless, and there is everything you could possibly need. New this year is a dishwasher and kitchen sink, both high quality and great to have! The bed is extremely comfortable with nice linens and a warm comforter. It is helpful to have the washer and dryer as we try to pack light. We love the town of Field, sometimes we see elk wandering around the village. It all adds up to a magical vacation that both my husband and I look forward to every year! Thank you, John, for another wonderful trip!

“Excellent accommodation, wonderful location!”
Reviewed October 7, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

I spent three nights in the Burgess Lookout (Field, B.C.) at the end of September. The accommodation was well presented, clean and tidy, with every convenience. Upon arrival, the lights and heating were on, with soft music playing in the background, adding to the warm and cosy ambiance. With regards location, Field is in the Yoho National Park; it was well located for visits to the nearby Emerald Lake, the Takakkaw Falls and with Lake Louise and the Moraine Lake 20 minutes drive down the road, there is something to capture everyone's imagination.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and look forward to my next visit!

Field, is in my opinion, the best home base for the most popular locations in the Rockies (eg., Emerald Lake,15 min; Takakkaw Falls15 min; Lake Louise/Moraine Lake 25 min; Banff 1hr) and Burgess Lookout Cabins would have to be the best fully equipped accommodation for couples in this quaint village. The only thing you need to do is ensure that you do your grocery shopping at a larger town such as Canmore or Golden. The host provides all else eg. laundry powder, mosquito spray, coffee, and even a bear spray repellant. There is also a running creek 50m away and we spent many a quiet moment on a seat overlooking this tranquil spot. There is a hiking track within 50m and the local visitor info center is at Field itself. All in all, I would return in a heartbeat and recommend it unreservedly.

“Pretty darn close to perfect”
Reviewed August 24, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

I don't think I can add anything new to my review that has not already been mentioned in prior posts. The cabin is exactly as described by both the owner and previous guest reviews. It truly is as good as it sounds. Also, Field is a perfect place to come back to after a long day of enjoying the Yoho/Louise area if you understand, (and perhaps want), the limitations of staying in a small town with virtually no services and active train tracks. Yes, with only 2 dining options and a gas station food mart, some advance planning is required so it may not be for everyone. But if you can bring your own supplies and want a private, quiet spot away from the hustle and crowds, this amazing property should be your first choice.
