We really enjoyed our stay at Taboo Resort. We only stayed for one night, but were very happy with our experience here. We were upgraded to a room with a view of Lake Muskoka, and our room was spacious, well-equipped and had some nice upscale touches. The location is fantastic, sitting right on the edge of the lake with lovely classic Muskoka views.
The resort itself walks a perfect line between the sophistication of "new Muskoka" and the rustic traditions of "old Muskoka", with the interior of the dinner-only restaurant, lounge area, spa and rooms, for example, feeling more urban and upscale, while the outdoor patio, boat rentals, trails and other more outdoorsy facilities still retaining the charm of "old Muskoka".
We enjoyed the complimentary kayak/canoe rentals, outdoor pool, trails, as well as the food at all of the restaurants and the spa. The only thing we wish this resort had was a hot tub (preferably an outdoor one!), as well as a larger relaxation area inside the spa (there were only 4 relaxation chairs, which often filled up).
Staff were friendly and polite (and not at all snobbish, thankfully), and we felt welcomed from the minute we arrived.
I'd definitely recommend Taboo for those looking for a short Muskoka getaway without the hassle of a cottage.More
