“Pleasantly surprised”
Reviewed December 16, 2009

Our family was caught in a snowstorm and were forced to stay in Gravenhurst. We saw a sign for the Residence Inn and decided to enquire its whereabouts as it didn't register on our GPS. I believe it's only about a year old.
We were glad we picked it. The place was spotless. We had a spacious and beautifully decorated suite. It included a king sized bed, sofa bed, kitchen, dining area, and of course, bathroom. There was also a balcony with a stunning view of the lake.
Breakfast included the continental fare, as well as hot foods like pancakes, make-your-own waffles, scrambled eggs, and sausages.
As we were just stopping by, we didn't bring our swimsuits but the pool looked quite nice. We would definitely stay there again...and plan to stay there.

This hotel opened one month before we stayed in it so everything looked brand new. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were beautiful and spotlessly clean. They are a bit smaller than other Residence Inn's that I stayed at and a bit cramped for our family of 5. However, they do a limited number of larger suites. Breakfast was great. The dining room was a bit cramped due to the hotel being fully booked but the manager opened up a meeting room for additional dining space, so we were able to dine in almost complete privacy since most others did not realize the room was available. The weather was miserable with almost non-stop rain so we took advantage of the large pool area. There is a patio off the pool where you can bbq if you wish and shops, restaurants and a boat dock within walking distance. There was a BBQ festival going on at the time, so we took advantage of the free entertainment and great food on a dry afternoon! There are very few hotels in this area and hotel chains are almost non-existent in this area so we were fortunate to get a room at the Marriott at a superb rate!

Included hot full breakfast, all rooms have full kitchens (full-size fridge, 2 elements, dishwasher), balconys with good views of the lake. Good clean pool facility, free bbq and outdoor eating area, and the service is as good as I've ever experienced (including resort hotels).

My wife who has a hard time relaxing on vacations, actually admitted she wanted to come back again soon b/c it was a relaxing and enjoyable trip. Our 2 young toddlers also really enjoyed being close to their aunts/uncles/grandparents, as rooms were right next to each other.

The hotel is right on the Muskoka Wharf, which also hosts a Sunset Grill, Boston Pizza, and a steakhouse, all built in the same old-style architecture. There is a playground in walking distance. There is no beach onsite, but several decent beaches within a 20 minute drive... the best one we found was Kirby's beach.

I found the hotel to be a great asset to the area. Our room was spacious and clean. Wonderful balcony with two Muskoka chairs. The staff were very accommodating, proactive, and cheerful. Location is great - closeby to the wharf which includes an area to wander, shop and eat. I understand that on some weekends there are activities such as antique boat show, etc. Easy access to town, could walk, although it would probably take approximately 30 minutes comfortably. Beside the hotel is a small area with a trail that allows you to wander through a natural terrain and sit and view the open lake or wharf area or just relax and take in the great air. Accessibility to the Muskoka steamships. There was a nice mix of guests - old and young, families, singles and couples yet there was little noise. Breakfast is included - I was surprised to see it was quite expansive in its offering - hot and cold - juices, pancakes, waffles, eggs, yoguart, fresh fruit, cold cereals, white and brown bread, muffins, donuts, bagals, English muffins, and condiments - there was lots of activity in the area while everyone helped themselves, but I think generally everyone had their needs satisfied. The pool is indoor with doors opening to the exterior and an exercise room. The hotel also has 2,000 sq ft of meeting space. Free parking and internet access. Great access to so much in the area. Before I left, made arrangements to return!

We just returned the other day and had a great time despite a major storm that ripped through the area and left us with no power for the majority of our stay. We enjoyed sitting on our lake view balcony in our Muskoka chairs watching the storm roll through and sitting there all night while we waited for the lights to return to the area. When the power went out we went to the front desk and asked for something to help in the dark and were gladly given a strong glowstick that came in very handy toward the late night. The market in the lobby was also a great asset once we realized that we could not get dinner anywhere with no power. Overall we had a fantastic stay. The room was huge an cleaned spotlessly. The guest services desk was always kind and helpful to us whenever it was needed. We had a fantastic getaway!

I visited for a corporate retreat and stayed for three nights and four days. This hotel is brand new and in perfect condition. I had a spacious and clean room with a view that overlooked the lake. The hotel is tucked within one of Lake Muskoka’s many beautiful bays, making it perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view, or swimming off of the jumping rocks at the point. Our entire group really enjoyed the nearby spa, the steamboat tour on the lake, the amazing surrounding golf courses and the variety of restaurants along the boardwalk. I have nothing but praise for the entire staff at the hotel, who treated us like guests at their family cottage, rather than clients at a corporate hotel. I look forward to visiting again.
