“A good place in a great area”
Reviewed January 15, 2014

Stayed at the Residence Inn for 4 nights during a wild week of winter weather. The hotel staff were excellent and provided attentive service even during the most hectic times. Even though it was terrible outside, the hotel maintained a clean lobby area. Reception staff were friendly and made sure that we were taken care of. Housekeeping standards were higher than most properties in the area. The hot breakfast was comparable to those offered by other hotels and, even with a relatively full house, there was no waiting for food items. Its location is perfect for summer activities, sitting right in the area known as the Muskoka Wharf. In the winter, many of the amenities of the wharf were not open.

We booked this hotel due to its mentions on the snowmobile websites. You have access to a number of trails from the parking lot, and there is a special snowmobile parking area. When we visited there was a blizzard, but trails weren't open.

Staff was terrific. Lindsay, the evening front desk clerk, was so friendly! She chatted with us whenever we came or went, recommended places to eat, made sure we knew about the 6 o'clock social (with nachos!!), and was a terrific ambassador for the hotel. The room was very pleasant and clean, with nice towels. We checked out the pool but did not have time to try it. The evening social is nice after a long drive, so we could munch and think about where to eat rather than have to leave the comfy hotel to drive in the blizzard. The morning buffet is very filling, with porridge, eggs, sausage, waffles, orange juice, cereal and more. It would be a terrific start to any tourism or snowmobile riding in the area. The persons in charge of the food (both evening and morning) came to talk to us and say hi. Even the staff person cleaning on our floor chatted with us as we were leaving.

This hotel has the best, friendliest staff of any place I have stayed in a long time. I can't wait to try the snowmobile tour again, and will definitely launch from the Residence Inn by Marriott.

We also chatted with a fellow who was finishing a 6 week stay at the hotel on business, and he was also very happy with his long-term stay.

Room Tip: We paid extra for a fireplace, but it wasn't really a highlight. The lake view might have been w...

Stayed at this hotel with 11 others ages 9yrs to 52yrs. We had two of the larger suites with two room in each and pull outs in the lounge. Checking in was easy and our room where opposite each other. Breakfast was simple but perfectly adequate for all in our group. Unlimited make your own waffles suited the teenagers. The pool and hot tub are small but we had them to ourselves on one occasion. (Note the pool towels are tiny so don't depend on them to get back to your room, at least not in December). One of our group celebrated a birthday while we were there and the reception staff opened up one of the additional breakfast rooms for us to use for a impromptu party at not extra cost provided we left it clean for the next morning. They even left us a hover and large bin. This was very good service. Finally late checkout was arranged easily. We enjoyed our stay. We found plenty to keep us occupied for two days even in the winter.

We chose this hotel for its landscape (from the pictures we saw on the website). We were not disappointed because the area is very nice. Unfortunately, we've been there at the moment of the year when there is not much to do (the winter time didn't start yet). The room was spacious and nice.

Located on the shore of lake muskoka, this hotel is a gem. Well worth the price, rooms are large and very well appointed. Great staff, a pleasurable stay. Great place to stay and take a steamer ride. The fall colours were lovely.

I recently stayed at this hotel for a hockey tournament Nov.22-24, and all I can say is that is how a hotel should be run nothing but friendly accommodating staff. Yes we were a little loud and had a bunch of kids running around but the staff let us do our thing till 11 and then gave us a spot down in the lobby to continue our visit. We also had a team pot luck style dinner the sat night which they offered up a spot to accommodate us which was huge considering we were two hockey teams. Great hotel wonderful rooms and a great city, now only if the tournament was run that smoothly....lol

We got to town around 11:30 and couldnt check in till 4pm so we went by to see if we were able to get in a wee bit earlier. Well they got us right in, after our long drive. (not sure if in peak you would get same treatment) We appreciated that very much.
The place is way above my expectations. Beautiful suites, nice grounds, and great breakfast.
We were there with a hockey team and they gave us a room to visit and hang out at night. Anything we needed they had for us. Staff were awesome.
I asked how much the rooms were in peak weekdays and was told roughly 300 a night. Would liove to go back in Summer, but really not in my price range. So glad we did get to stay here.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing water, and with a full stove, as you can then make your own meals.
