We just had such a super six days with you ... we were well 'blanketed', superbly 'spooned', and happily befriended! There are no superlatives that do you and your 'estate' justice ... we so enjoyed our ability to walk through the adjacent forest, and on and on and on. I have to say, we're having to work hard this week to shed some of the pounds we added dining so well, every meal was a treat, and I much appreciate your sharing some of your wonderful recipes with me. We're already looking forward to a return visit to you and your beautiful corner of the world.

After a week in the more hectic parts of Vancouver, the property was just far enough away from the hustle and bustle to feel totally relaxed. We loved the gardens, the trails and the beautiful house set amongst it all. The carriage house was private and cozy, whilst only being a few steps away from Shane and Carol's amazing hospitality.
Being something of a fussy eater I am suspicious of many chefs but Shane won me over from the first pancake. Delicious and from what I gather, most meals are prepared using local ingredients, adding to the restfull and rustic appeal.
We came to BC all the way from Australia and The Blanket and Spoon was the best part of the whole trip for us. It was just what we needed and we are planning our next Canadian trip around staying there!

We could see the skepticism in your eyes.."gourmet food???" it said. We were very pleased to see it followed by a smile when you took your first bite of breakfast. We loved having you and Nicole as guests. Hearing about your engagement, we have two things to say...Congratulations! and Ladysmith would make a great honeymoon destination. ;)

Our stay in the Carriage House was a lovely experience, highlighted by Chef Shayne's gourmet three course dinner and wine pairing. Truly a gastronomic delight! Carol and Shayne are perfect hosts, making you feel right at home. The location and ambience of the property are perfect for a quiet and relaxing getaway.

You were our first gift certificate redemption. Dinner and a night in the Carriage House! I know your family planned this to be a very special occasion and we're so glad we could rise to the challenge of making it special. Thank you for your great review and we hope our paths cross again soon!

We have just returned from 6 glorious nights at the Blanket & Spoon. We had originally booked the Haven Suite but were graciously upgraded to the Carriage House. It is exactly as outlined on the website. The property is a lush oasis in an incredibly quiet location but a perfection drive to both Nanaimo and Ladysmith. The highlight of our stay was the amazing breakfasts created by Chef Shayne. He managed to create new and exciting items for us every morning that left us so full that we didn't eat anything else the rest of the day! Everything was made with fresh and local ingredients. In addition, I appreciated the attention to detail regarding my nut allergy. Both Shayne and Carol were friendly, gracious and extremely welcoming. We also enjoyed spending our mornings with Lucy and Belle, their sweet dogs. We have stayed in B&B's in almost every province in Canada and this was definitely the best food we have ever had. Thank you Shayne and Carol!!

Thank you so much for the great review! You were the best guests! We enjoyed the laughter and great conversations at breakfast. Lucy and Belle were actually looking for you the first day after your checkout. I do believe they were missing you too. We will look forward to your return in the fall!

Staying at the carriage house at the Blanket and spoon was an excellent way to spend our 40th wedding anniversary away from it all. The hosts Carol and Shayne were very friendly, the meals were amazing and they able to cater to our dairy and gluten allergies. We especially enjoyed the tapas in the afternoon.

Blanket and Spoon is the perfect little cottage hideaway for a relaxing night or weekend get away. The perfect distance from Victoria to make it feel like you got away without travelling too far.

We stayed for two nights in the Cottage Suite for our 2nd Anniversary and enjoyed every minute. Very modern, well prepared and clean, the suite offers a king bed, walk in shower, sink, fridge, day bed and full sized hot tub on your own private deck.

The little extra touches including a coffee pod machine in the room, complimentary wine and cookies upon arrival and breakfast prepared by professional Chef Shayne really set this B&B apart from the rest.

If you want to have a private place to relax in a beautiful country setting with walking trails at your doorstep, you should check out the Blanket and Spoon...you won't be disappointed.

Special thanks to Carol and Shayne whose hospitality is there at all the right times...even when we arrived home and had an email offering to mail us a few things that we accidentally forgot.

Don't miss out on the Blanket and Spoon!

The Blanket and Spoon was just the get-away we were looking for to celebrate our anniversary. Carol and Shayne welcomed us with a glass of wine and tapas, and looked after our every need during our stay. They went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable, and even offered to drive us into Ladysmith for our evening out, and picked us up at the end of the evening.

The food was exceptional, we were particularly impressed with the attention to locally sourced foods and products.

Our room was very cozy and comfortable, beautifully outfitted with a very comfortable bed and luxurious bedding.

The house is beautiful, and the forested property is very relaxing and gives the sense of really getting away from things.

The location was also a great base for our exploration of the Cedar and Yellowpoint area during their annual “Christmas Tour” of local artisans studios and galleries.
