The rooms at Sail Inn are very large and a bit more modern than most B&B's in the area (i.e. not Victorian and Flowery). My wife and I very much preferred the more modern look of the Sail Inn. It had a huge bathroom with jacuzzi tub and very nice shower. With their price, they're probably some of the very best values in Lunenburg. The one complaint about the room is that you can hear footsteps upstairs, and the is pretty noisy when it comes throught the walls (if you're on the 2nd floor like we were). But not having ever stayed in an old house, maybe that's just how they are. The breakfast is kind of "super-continental" but not gourmet. The three mornings we were there we had eggs and a variety of breads, jams, fruits, nuts, and some local sausage products.
However, the reason to stay at Sail Inn is because of Keith and his boats. He has a large sailboat, as well as a smaller motorboat. While staying at the Sail Inn you can go on the sailboat for free anytime it goes out (requires 6 paying customers and good weather). We went on a sunset cruise which was terrific. But the highlight of our Sail Inn experience, and probably Lunenburg experience was the yacht race. My wife and I were sitting on a dock watching the race and Keith pulled up on his motorboat and told us to hop aboard. He then drove us around the bay in between the yachts in the race and told us what was going on, who was doing well and poorly and why. Keith just saw us there and picked us up and we had an outstanding afternoon.
