We booked this for our anniversary and decided to upgrade a bit and chose the Junior Suite with a king bed, which is the entire top floor with a private deck. First of all, the pictures do not quite do this place justice: the suite is huge, it's like a little house. You have a living room area with a fireplace, bar and tv,(cable, free wi-fi, Keurig tea, coffee and hot chocolate) an enormous bed area and a beautiful sitting area glassed in on 3 sides, the 'bump' of the renowned Lunenburg bump over the front entrance foyer below. Almost all windows have views of the ocean and there are lots of skylight windows which open for fresh air and are really wonderful. The private back deck is gorgeous with a table if you want to sit out for a drink and a bite and has nice views all around too, you can see the ocean and the golf course. The bathroom is huge with a nice clawfoot tub and the giant King bed is so comfortable I wanted to bring it home with us! Margaret on the front desk was very professional and thoughtful. We really enjoyed the breakfast in the morning, all kinds of fresh fruit, smoked salmon, home-baked scones and muffins and really good coffee in a heavenly dining area. We were very thoughtfully gifted with a bottle of chilled champagne which we really appreciated. Lunenburg was our very first trip as a couple many years ago before we got married and will always have a very special place in our hearts and we have stayed at a few other places here but this is the absolute best quality we've encountered. The only actual downfall with this gorgeous place is you really won't want to leave.

Very nice B&B with an antique theme. My wife and i stayed on the "one night romantic get away" package in a 1 bedroom suite for our anniversary. The suite was spacious, beautifully decorated, clean and bright with modern conveniences (cable TV, Wi-Fi, AC,mini bar, Keurig coffee machine with tea of coffee choices) and an antique bathroom. The King Sized bed was comfortable and the bedding was of high quality. The included continental breakfast was great if you want a lighter breakfast (included your choice of home baked scones, bagels, toast, cold cereal, two types of cheese, sliced meats, local solomon gundy, tea or coffee.) It would have been nice to have hard boiled eggs as a choice too, but it was still quite good as it was. The staff were welcoming and friendly. We would recommend the Mariner King Inn.

Room Tip: The suite gives a good space if you are staying in the room for any length of time.

Two of our three sons have received their university degrees at one of the many institutions of higher learning in Nova Scotia. Hence Priscilla and I find ourselves in Lunenberg, a quaint and charming UNESCO Wolrd Heritage Site. There is not much to choose from in Lunenberg in the way of accomodation. We are not Bed and Breakfast types. After walking through town and seeing what there was to offer, the Mariner King Inn is probaly the best of the bunch. The common areas are well appointed if you like doilies, crafts and that sort of thing. The breakfast room is one of those weird quiet types of places where everyone feels uncomfortable. We had our breakfast there from the buffet which was okay. You know, toast, juice, fruit platter, yougurt, eggs (anyway you like them) and of course bacon and ham. Service was cheerful from one of the nice local kids who works there part time. The dining room looked scary, one of those too quiet, hoaky formal places where you are afraid to raise your voice beyond a whisper because Ma and Pa might get offended. We had an attic room which was actually quite comfortable, given the heat wave outside. It had some silly hypnotic A/C unit on the wall which gives off the sound of ocean waves, so we actually slept really well. The bed was comfortable, the linens and bathroom were clean and the staff was Nova Scotian friendly. Listen it's not Manhattan, but if you find yourself staying overnight in Lunenberg, the Mariner King Inn is the place to stay.

My daughter and I stayed one night in the attic suite and enjoyed the entire experience tremendously. Every comfort was available, and the public rooms downstairs are very cozy and decorated in period style with traditional colours throughout. All areas are scrupulously clean and inviting. A huge continental breakfast was served in the dining room, and our gracious host made us a pot of tea, and invited us to choose a bone china cup from the corner cabinet. A veritable cornucopia was laid out for us--consisting of fresh scones and breads, a variety of locally cured meats, pickled herring, cheeses, cereals, yogurt and fruit. My daughter summed it up nicely when she concluded, "This place is so amazing that it could be a destination in itself, to get away from all the 'busyness' and just chill!" The fact that the Inn is set in the midst of the magnificent architecture of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, replete with hundreds of colourfully painted, perfectly maintained houses, good restaurants, interesting shops and a working waterfront just steps from its front door, makes the Mariner King Inn an ideal location, indeed!

Room Tip: The attic suite is worth the extra charge. King size bed with a sky light overhead; incredible doubl...

As we approached and entered the Mariner King our hearts sank. The outside of the building showed clear signs of needing care , pealing paint, worn doors and steps in need of staining. The lobby area was dark and painted an odd and unpleasent color of green, the carpets looked grey and tired. The public rooms were dimly lite and not welcoming. If we hadn't had a prepaid reservation we would have turned around and left. Our room however was another story. It was large, comfortable, airy and pleasently decorated with many nice amentities. I always appreciate comfortable chairs and good lighting for reading and this room had both. On the room side of the equation I would give an excellent rating.

The breakfast was adequate but nothing special . Some hot selections and higher quality offerings would make a big difference.

The staff was helpful and pleasent.

The hotel is well located and has some charm. it just needs some love ( $ ) and attention to be special.

Of all the B & B's on our trip this is the only one I would call a disappointment.

My husband were at the Inn for a night and we had the suite and it was lovely. Lots of room and very comfortable & private. We had a large room with a living room and huge bath, The staff were very accommodating and the continental breakfast was lovely. The place was very clean and I would recommend staying there and I hope my husband and I get to go away again for another night at the Mariner King Inn.

Room Tip: We did not bother with room service and there is no pool but there is a small workout room.
