“Almost Lost Treasure”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2013

Our plans did not include Lunenburg; however, when complete strangers raved over this place and then asked again at breakfast, we had to do some research. Quickly to the room and onto the web, I found this beautiful town and awesome B & B. Plans changed and we were on our way to a spectacular piece of history and first class accommodations. John and Lynn welcomed us into their home, charmed us with their tales and knowledge and delighted us with delicious breakfasts. We never would have gone as we were into "guide books" and planned itineraries.....this was a treasure not to be missed! And yes, we will return!

This Victorian B & B was beautiful as we drove up. Greeted by John who made up feel comfortable right away. He was helpful, informative and proud of the history of the house and Lunenburg. Nice short walking path to main town where we had a very nice meal at the Old Fish Company. Second night at The Knot Pub. Both yummy. The best food though was the amazing breakfasts that John and Lynn served us each morning family style...the best we had in two weeks of travel !!! Such a sweet couple who compliment each other. We were centrally located for all the sites we wanted to see along the coast and hope to return some day as Nova Scotia was our favorite.

Room Tip: The Waverly Room was too small for us after coming from a huge suite in Prince Edward Island. Nice...

The charming owners of Ashlea House put a lot of time and energy into making sure their guests have a good stay. The house is beautiful and very interesting, with lots of original features. Our room was very comfortable and breakfast next day was great...everyone sitting around a huge dining table chatting like old friends. John and Lynn entertained, waited, cooked and made the meal a memorable one. If we're ever in Lunenburg again we'll definitely book into this lovely B&B.

A friend and I stayed with John and Lynn and they made us feel right at home. The house is beautiful and is in the perfect location! It's a 3 minute walk into town through a small park. Our room was clean, cozy, and comfortable with a great view of the waterfront. Breakfast was wonderful and was served "family style" where we were able to visit with two other couples that were there. Our friendly and helpful hosts gave us lots of great tips of what to see and do not only in Lunenburg, but other places to see in the area. Our only regret is that we only stayed one night. Highly recommend!

John and Linda were such a welcoming couple, who made you feel at home in this immaculate b&b. Bedrooms were spacious and beds comfortable. Was very impressed with how clean everything was. Gorgeous gardens and decks to relax on. Lots of laughs and great conversation. Breakfast was absolutely amazing. Will definitely go back!!

We picked this B&B from a travel guide while on our way to Lunenburg; no reviews to read; just the description to guide us. We were delightfully surprised at the outside appearance of the house & yard. As we were shown & viewed the rest of the spacious home, our excitement & pleasure increased. John & Linda are friendly, helpful, welcoming, hospitable hosts. Their home is updated to modern standards while keeping the delightful heritage ambiance. Their breakfast included traditional, local foods; tastefully prepared with care & in abundance. We highly recommend staying at Ashlea House. We were disappointed that our travel plans restricted us from staying more than 1 night.

We spent two delightful days in Lunenburg, enhanced by the comfort and hospitality at Ashlea House. A lovingly restored Victorian home, just a short stroll through a park to the town, and operated so well by John and Lynn. Breakfast each morning was delicious and imaginative, more than enough for the most hearty appetite. Recommended without hesitation.
