“Lovely home, friendly hosts, good location.”

My husband and I spent three days at the Ashlea House in September. We were part of a party of four couples traveling together and all sharing September wedding anniversaries. We chose Ashlea House because of it's good reviews on Trip Advisor and because it had nice rooms available for all in our group. We were all happy with our choice. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful with restaurant selections and reservations . Walking to museums and galleries and restaurants was possible for all in our group . The rooms are nicely appointed and the view from the widows walk deck area is great as is the gazebo by the main entrance. Breakfast was served family style at 8:30 for all guests and was lavish and very good. Dietary issues with one member of our party were met satisfactorily. All in all we enjoyed our stay.
The only suggestion I would make is it would be nice if the hosts would provide a hot pot and tea bags for the guests use later in the day or in the evening, perhaps with some cookies or munchies like fruit or nuts.

Room Tip: We had a smaller room with the most modern bathroom but found the shower in the jacuzzi tub was some...

This was my first time to Lunenberg and I would go back in a minute. The owners at Ashlea House were like friends and made you feel right at home. In fact it was like home only better as I never have the food they had for breakfast . It was fantastic and I would recommend this B&B to anyone and have done so when I got home to my co-workers. Everything is within walking distance and Lynn and John gave us ideas of things that we should see and do. The area is beautiful and a must to see. The architect of the buildings in Lunenberg are something else. I loved the area and the time spent at Ashlea House. Thank you Lynn and John.

Room Tip: our room overlooked the bay....it was really nice. All rooms are nice so no worries. We were in the...

Just came back from a 10 day tour of Nova Scotia, We spent the last four nights at the Ashlea House. What a beautiful home and welcoming hospitality. Lynn goes goes above and beyond to make your stay pleasent. My only complaint is the 10 lbs I gained from her delicious family style breakfast. The dishes just keep coming from the kitchen where Lynn and Mary prepared this feast. I suppose I am my own food control board. Totally enjoyed the lively conversation and all the helpful hints on planning your day. Highly recommend this B and B.

This was our first trip to Nova Scotia, and our first stop had to be in Lunenberg. When I booked this B&B, it seemed to represent the history of such a beautiful town-well when we arrived and I walked in, you felt like you stepped back in time. The parlours were decorated beautifully and a large dining room, the fantastic staircase going up to the bedrooms. The rooms are spacious and clean. The breakfasts had many courses and homemade, we never left hungry. There are porches on the first level and second level, to relax and read a book, it is beautiful and quiet. Another great feature, is that you are able to walk to restaurants, the many boutiques and the waterfront. Many thanks to our host, she is extremely friendly and made us feel very comfortable. We would definitely book this B&B again.

This is the reason that you go to a Bed and Breakfast over a hotel. Lynn is so warm and inviting (we just love her laugh!). The family style breakfast which is a big as the enormous table that you sit at is well prepared and delicious. It invites lively conversation, a great way to start your day of exploring the area. The house and rooms are very comfortable, and clean. We had wonderful sleeps here.
The Ashlea house has a very interesting past, and her present owners have done a wonderful job restoring her. They have great pride in their lovely home, and share it so well with their guests.
Lunenburg is a lovely town. There is lots to explore, and the residents are extremely friendly.
Lynn suggested the 2 restaurants we went to, Magnolias and La Trattoria ( I forget the complete name, but it's the only Italian restaurant in town) and they were excellent.
The fishing museum is interesting, but what makes it is speaking with the employees, they live the life, and added so much to the experience.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor will have a better view of the bay. We stayed in the Family suite, which was...

We stayed at Ashlea House on September 15 and my only regret is not having more time to spend there! The property is lovely, the house is beautifully appointed and the hosts are incredibly accomodating. Guests are encouraged to spread out and enjoy the downstairs parlours and dining room, the upstairs sitting room and the outdoor decks and sunny seating area in the widow's walk. We woke to a view of a sparkling ocean dotted with sailboats.

Comfortable bed, pristine ensuite, in-room wireless and good TV (a selection of DVDs are available to borrow). Make sure you are hungry at breakfast time: fresh veggie omelette, blueberry pancakes with NS Maple Syrup, homemade beans, ham, fresh fruit, yogourt and lots of juice and coffee! John and Lynn are great hosts and we look forward to a return trip.

Room Tip: We had the Cottage Room; lots of stairs to climb but the room and view are worth it!

My husband and I decided to drive to the South Shore of Nova Scotia on the Sunday of the Labour Day weekend. We had not been to Lunenburg since we were teenagers and we felt very lucky to get a room at Ashlea House for the evening! We walked in the front door and immediately felt comfortable. Our hosts were wonderful , the room was comfortable , the breakfast was delicious! We went to the local pub (Knots?) for dinner and I had the fish and chips ... it was fresh and delicious. The next morning we walked along the boardwalk in Lunenburg... it was spectacular... the water , the boats... all picturesque! I will be back ...love Lunenburg!
