“And only a short walk away.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2013 via mobile

After the Gospel program Sunday at Folk Harbour Festival we were going home and decided to stop and have Brunch. How we missed this little gem which is only two blocks from our home confounds me. Now that we know about what a gem we have in the neighborhood we will be regulars. My breakfast was outstanding.Tony our waiter was great. The decor is exceptional and the food outstanding and we can walk home.

“Fine meal, service and ambiance”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2013 via mobile

Well-prepared food served at this restaurant within the Bluenose Lodge. Small dining room is very attractive. Service is attentive. Can highly recommend the mushroom ragout and the maple glazed salmon. If you have room for dessert try the apple apricot cheese torte!

“Great for families!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2013

Don't let the white tablecloths fool you into thinking this isn't a family-friendly restaurant - it is!! We've eaten here twice with our baby and toddler. They have high chairs, board books for babies and colouring books/crayons. Best of all, they don't have the standard children's menu with hotdogs and Kraft Dinner. They simply make smaller portions of regular menu items for little ones - brilliant!

The food is delicious - probably the best fish and chips in Lunenburg. Good sized portions, fresh local ingredients. Charming staff - friendly, knowledgable and not obtrusive.

Lovely all the way around.

“Better than Amazing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2013

This is BY FAR the best restaurant in all of Lunenburg. The decor is great and modern, not overwhelming. The water is even served with an elegant slice of cucumber. There is a great selection of wine, cocktails and specialty coffees. The staff are friendly and helpful AND THE FOOD IS AMAZING!!!!!! The blue cheese steak is to die for. It was the best filet I have ever had. It was served on a bed of whipped potatoes and some seasonal veg, as well as a blue cheese sauce overtop. The blue cheese sauce was tasty and not overwhelming, but added a nice flavour. The haddock was also great, a large portion sized, cooked perfectly.
I also overheard the waitress telling another table how each bowl of chowder is made to order, which is unheard of in Lunenburg, most just make a large pot and heat it up to order, but not here. They actually take the time to make it for each individual person.
The flourless chocolate cake with cayenne is to die for! Its chocolate heaven, with "a little burst of happiness" as our waitress explained it.
We will be back time and time again.

“Best local ingredients presented with style”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2013

Of the half dozen restaurants in Lunenburg where I have eaten, this one is the best. The dining room, located in the beautiful, historic house of the Bluenose Lodge, is elegant and quiet. The waiter Mark provided prompt service and useful information, especially about wines from the local winery, Petite Riviere. We were so impressed by the wine that we visited the vineyard two days later to buy more. Our meals were just as impressive. I highly recommend the seafood 'chowder', which the chef Esther Bourgeois prepares not as a soup, but as a delectable medley of seafood (scallops, mussels, lobster, etc.) in a rich cream sauce. One bite of a scallop and you understand why-----it is not overcooked; it melts in your mouth. The salads are generous and super fresh with a great collection of greens. The desserts are also delicious. I will definitely return on my next visit to Lunenburg.
