1826 Maplebird House Bed & Breakfast

A warm welcome to a very charming and historical house. Susie and Barry's ongoing programme of improvement, renovation and restoration has been skillfully done and is very sensitive to the period of the house.

We had a pretty, comfortable room with excellent ensuite facilities

Breakfast was a real feature with much home-cooked and locally produced content, with a different and inventive main dish each day.

We can thoroughly recommend it.

My husband & I stayed at the Maplebird for one night in the summer and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The house had such great country charm, was spotless, and very welcoming and inviting. One of the few B&Bs in the area with a pool.

Susie and Barry were terrific hosts, giving us good advice on what touristy things would be best for us to do, and what restaurants to go to. The breakfast was incredible and the rooms are very comfortable. I felt like I was at home.

We will definitely be back and this time longer than a one night stay. Thanks Susie & Barry! We'll see you soon. ;-)

We recently retired and our first trip was going to be the Atlantic Provinces for six weeks. Our first stop was Nova Scotia.

We booked this lovely B & B online for our first week.

We found the owners, Barry and Susie, to be wonderful, funny generous and very knowledgeable hosts. We found the home to be very comfortable and clean and the lawns and gardens were kept immaculate. Our room was so comfy and cozy. The breakfasts were wonderfully varied each morning. The huge bowls of fresh fruit salad were to die for each morning.

It was so nice to sit around the breakfast table and talk with Barry and Susie and other guests about their adventures.

We came back to stay with Barry and Susie again at the end of September for a couple days as we were booked to sail on the Bluenose on her last sail of the year. It was like coming home for a visit with old friends!!!

My husband and I have told many people about this wonderful heritage B & B in Lunenburg and would not hesitate to tell anyone to stay there

Enjoy your visit and say hi to Barry and Susie from the Brandner's in Kelowna, B.C.

If looking for a quaint, clean and reasonably priced B&B then this would be the one. The hosts Barry and Susie are very knowledgable of the area, hospitable and hard working. Food was excellent and the decorating and antiques throughout make you feel like you have arrived in a world of yesterday with modern conveniences - also well located to harbor, museums and restaurants. Definitely will book again!

This was our first visit to Nova Scotia and it was a special occassion - 30th wedding anniversay. We could not have found a better location, a better B&B or a better host and hostess. When you are on a vacation, in an unfamiliar area, it is wonderful and appreciated that the B&B operators take an active interest in you every day and are so helpful in ensuring that you are enjoying yourselves. The facility is very clean and the rooms very comfortable. The grounds are well manicured and there is convenient parking adjoining the rooms. Finally, the breakfasts are an experience unto themselves. This was one of our best vacations, that we will always remember. You do not want to miss this one!

Barry and Susie are wonderful hosts at the Maple Bird House, they are very friendly and truly work as a team to make their guests feel welcome and very much at home. Susie's breakfasts are amazing, and we always looked forward to seeing what was being offered each morning and were always happy to see the huge crystal bowls of freshly prepared fruit as we entered the dining area. If we were in need of anything we just asked and it would be in our cozy room when we came back from our daily touring. We hightly recommend this B and B and are looking forward to going back there again.

Staying at the 1826 Maplebird House was like having a second home in Lunenburg, except with a fabulous, live-in, breakfast cook. It has to be the coziest place we have ever stayed at. Upon arrival, our hosts welcomed us by our name, and made us instantly feel totally at home. Their warmth and sincerity showed up in every room of their Bed and Breakfast through their impeccable decor, and food. The professinal manner in which all this was displayed was impressive, and made us not want to leave, and prolong our stay.
