“We found perfection!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2008

This was our first visit to Nova Scotia and it was a special occassion - 30th wedding anniversay. We could not have found a better location, a better B&B or a better host and hostess. When you are on a vacation, in an unfamiliar area, it is wonderful and appreciated that the B&B operators take an active interest in you every day and are so helpful in ensuring that you are enjoying yourselves. The facility is very clean and the rooms very comfortable. The grounds are well manicured and there is convenient parking adjoining the rooms. Finally, the breakfasts are an experience unto themselves. This was one of our best vacations, that we will always remember. You do not want to miss this one!

Barry and Susie are wonderful hosts at the Maple Bird House, they are very friendly and truly work as a team to make their guests feel welcome and very much at home. Susie's breakfasts are amazing, and we always looked forward to seeing what was being offered each morning and were always happy to see the huge crystal bowls of freshly prepared fruit as we entered the dining area. If we were in need of anything we just asked and it would be in our cozy room when we came back from our daily touring. We hightly recommend this B and B and are looking forward to going back there again.

Staying at the 1826 Maplebird House was like having a second home in Lunenburg, except with a fabulous, live-in, breakfast cook. It has to be the coziest place we have ever stayed at. Upon arrival, our hosts welcomed us by our name, and made us instantly feel totally at home. Their warmth and sincerity showed up in every room of their Bed and Breakfast through their impeccable decor, and food. The professinal manner in which all this was displayed was impressive, and made us not want to leave, and prolong our stay.

This is an excellent B&B and we cannot say enough good things about it. First, the setting is perfect - cosy and inviting decor and great harbour views in a charming and quaint seaside village. Barry and Susie are gracious hosts, the breakfasts are delicious (and we know - we stayed a whole week) and they are very knowledgeable about Lunenburg and the surrounding area. Lunenburg itself has many attractions, and has two cheerful pubs, great spots for fish and chips and fishcakes, and two high-end award-winning restaurants, Fleur de sel and the Trattoria Della Nonna, all a short stroll from the Maplebird. Do not miss this one!

The 1826 Maplebird House Inn, located in the historic area of Lunenburg, was a wonderful place to stay. Our room was comfortable and clean, with a bathroom that had been recently remodeled with very high-quality fixtures. The owners, Suzie and Barry, have done a wonderful job of restoring the house and fitting it with tasteful period furniture. The breakfast was excellent.

We couldn't have picked a better place or had better hosts. The breakfast was delicious, the home is cozy and the view is great. The room had all the comforts of home. We'll recommend Maplebird B & B to all our friends and acquaintances.
