“Enjoy best german food in Nova Scotia”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

On our first evening in Canada we found this nice little restaurant near our hostel Kip & Kaboodle. Being in a Hostel run by an Kiwi it amazed us even more to find these nice people from the border of the "Bodensee" in Germany here serving really good food from Germany and Canada! We enjoyed both some "Maultaschen" and Scallops. The food really tastes like it should, very good and authentic. It was a warm welcome in this new atmosphere for us mixing german and english. About the price we can't tell yet. Its the same moderate price like in Austria or Germany, not that cheap as we were told. But maybe we don't know yet other Canadian prices?

Come and enjoy!

“wow! what a great surprise”
Reviewed August 18, 2012

I read other reviews of this restaurantt but was still a bit sceptical when we arrived. The exterior definitely does not prepare the visitor for the tremendous food that awaits inside. My wife and I stopped her planning just to have a quick meal before continuing on our way to Halifax. We started with the beer soup and goulash. Fantastic. Then we had the special of the day. Again, we were extremely impressed. Then we chose to have desserts. The strudel was our favourite but the Black Forest cake was also very good. I hope the owners don't read this but they could easily increase the price and this would still be great value. The service was very efficient especially as the restaurant was quite busy when we were there was only one waitress. The only problem was that our experience here spoiled us for the rest of the trip. It will be tough for any restaurant to match this one.

“Delicious and Authentic!”
Reviewed August 11, 2012

When we arrived in Lunenburg going to eat was one of the first things we wanted to do! I had heard about the place from Tripadvisor and the owner of the Inn we were staying at confirmed it was the best (she was German also)! Our meal was delicious, the portions were excellent, the price was extremely reasonable and the service was great! We enjoyed it so much that we actually went back the next day for lunch! The schnitzle & spatzle was amazing! The black forest cake was delicious but I have to say my favorite desert was "hot love" - vanilla ice cream with warm raspberries drizzled over it! Highly recommended !

“Superb and a real treat in Nova Scotia”
Reviewed August 4, 2012

This is a great place to eat! The food is very hearty in the best German tradition. The service is great and the ambiance is cheerful... you can tell people are really enjoying themselves! It's small and not open too late, so plan carefully. Full recommendation.
