“Almost perfect Lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

Went on a Saturday lunchtime with a party of six to celebrate my parents wedding anniversary. Quite expensive but the food was very good, the service faultless, the décor is gorgeous and the tables are well spaced out. My only complaint is that I asked for a smaller portion for my 11 year old son who has quite a small appetite. This was provided but there was no deduction on the bill which I didn't want to complain about at the time as I felt it would spoil the atmosphere for my parents.

“Portions”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2013 via mobile

Went last night in a party of 4. One of our party has to avoid some food products and they were very accommodating with this. The other 3 meals were very nice but really tight on the side dishes of potato and vegetables. Another dish of veg came out when we asked but really only enough for 1. Come on green man, bit more veg, it's not expensive. Onto deserts, £6.50, too expensive for the quantity. My custard was cold and it got sent back. How do you slice Brie so thinly? Cheese board was pitiful. Generally really nice place, good service. £128 bill for 4 and I left hungry. Shouldn't should I?

“Autumn Game”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 14, 2013

Nick and Becky really put on a fantastic Game evening last night. The food was excellent starting with a salad of smoked duckbreast, pan roasted pigeon and asparagus wrapped in air dried wild boar, the tastes were all different but really complemented each other. The filo parcel of pheasant, rabbit, hare stuffed with a quail egg looked just as you would expect a top class London restaurant to serve a dish, the game jus just made an excellent dish heavenly. The Vension Wellington ought to be a regular on the menu, it was cooked to perfection and again the cep infused reduction just elevates the dish to a higher level. Our table of four couldn't really come up with enough superlatives to rate the food, it was of the highest quality and cooked perfectly. We had a glass of Samur on arrival and then each dish was paired with a wine, a very interesting choice of wines and great to be able to taste a variety of styles. To me Nick remains the best chef around here by a long way and Becky makes every single customer feel like a friend of the family. The rest of the staff, Richard, Caroline, Justine, Declan - also do everything to make you enjoy the evening. A four course meal, wine and coffee for under £50 a head represents excellent value for money. Well done Nick and Becky.

"There was an old gourmet from Three Legged Cross,
When visiting the Green Man, was quite at a loss.
Cos' the food was so fine,
like the service and wine.
So, he presented six Michelin stars for the boss?"

We took our parents here for a meal and on arrival we were welcomed so warmly, really genuinely and the service throughout the evening was excellent.
The food was beautiful, atmosphere lovely, restaurant felt cosy and interesting.
Will liked it so much we are returning again very soon for a family wedding reception!
