WE went here for a bachelorette party and it was a wonderful stay. The rooms and service did not disappoint. The food was lovely. We stayed at the hotel in December and the outdoor hot tub was amazing! Need to book activities ahead of time and they get booked quickly and you might miss out like we did. Would recommend you try it - a lovely winter wonderland!

We have been coming to this resort every year since the day it opened its door. When we arrived this time, we waited for a bellman and valet at the entrance for a long time, until we decided to go to the front desk for assistance. The lady at the reception took our luggage to the room, took our car keys to have the vehicle parked, on top of doing the checkin procedure. We soon realized she was the bellman, receptionist, concierge all rolled into one. Getting the WIFI connection in the room was difficult, and the daily charge was excessive. This day and age you expect speedy, efficient WIFI and no charge at most major hotels. Asked for a wakeup call for 8.30AM and the phone rang at 6.30AM which was most annoying. Meals at the Italian Teca and the Cottages were OK and nothing to rave about. The next day we found the maid had made up the room, leaving 2 dirty unwashed coffee mugs on the counter. Kleenex tissue was down to one sheet. But the view and grounds were lovely and there is no other major hotel resort in the area at the moment. Guess we will still come back again when we visit the Muskoka.

This was our first visit to this spectacular area of Canada.
Our checkin was simple. The room was small but very comfortable with a great lake view.
There was plenty to do at the hotel as well as in the surrounding area.
In our first evening we ate in the Italian style restaurant. The food was first class and because they made a small mistake with our order, they supplied an excellent desert on the house.
Our server (Megan) was wonderful. Thank you.
All in all a wonderful 2 days.

We just got back from 2 days at the JW for our 46th wedding anniversary.. We are frequent travelers, including Marriotts. This was by far the worst experience we can remember. We can't complain about the wait until the room was ready at 4pm, as this is the check-in time. The room was nice, but overpriced at $450. We decided to eat at the more casual "Cottages" grill the first night and the Italian Teca the second. well, it turns out that The cottages was not available that night because of a conference, so we settled for 2 dinners at the Teca. But what really upset us was that the "Cottages" restaurant was not available for breakfast either because of the conference......and we were really looking forward to nice breakfast buffet overlooking the wonderful scenery. So off to Teca again, which does not offer a buffet. To top it off, the food was terrible......certainly not 4-star. The food was so bad that the server actually had the chef make a sauce for the stuffed chicken breast special that was totally overcooked and dry. Neither restaurant was open for lunch. And, you guessed it, the next day the conference had the Cottages booked for breakfast....so no buffet. There were other issues, but our complaints were shrugged off by management.
I must say that the staff was nice....they said that they had never seen it this disorganized....and hinted at very poor management. I would never recommend this resort to anyone.

Room Tip: Don't go there...

Visited the JW for a conference in late May. Whether is questionnable at this time of year but we did enjoy clear skies during the day with the temps plummeting over night. Golf at the Rock and Lake Joseph were great. Not much action at the hotel, aside from conference, at this time of year. Beautiful views from the large terraces. Definitely recommend water view room if you want to linger over in-room breakfast. Otherwise, great views are available everywhere on the property. Too cold for any on-water activities.

Not that one travels for hotel gyms, but this one wasn't great. Small but newer. But not overly extensive. Unfortunately there are no running trails on the property other then a very small loop.

There is no 24 hour room service or at least not during May. The front desk staff were kind enough to open the small shop so I could purchase some snacks but this is a major draw back of a hotel aiming to be luxury.

Room Tip: Rooms are water facing or parking lot.
