We stopped in for a quick lunch and will be back for dinner as the menu looks interesting and the ambience is appealing. In the summer this restaurant has the nicest patio in town.
We started with a house salad fresh greens and a tangy dressing and enjoyed the burger and fries and fish and chips. Both flavourful and nicely presented. The coffee was really good. Service was pleasant and it was a pleasure to talk with chef and owner Eric.

My family and I were very excited to dine out after a long day of skiing, hoping for a relaxing experience, but we were in for a rude awakening, literally. Upon arrival we were greeted by the kind and helpful wait staff, and the menu appeared to be pleasing to all of my families cravings. My daughter ordered the Macaroni and cheese, which she was very excited for, but when the meal arrived we discovered there was more onions in the dish then macaroni itself. Looking back onto the menu it did not even mention that onions were in the dish, the only ingredients listed were butternut squash, panchetta, gouda, and truffle oil. My daughter felt awful that we had complained but I could not sit there and watch her not be pleased with a very expensive meal in front of her. Our waiter was eager to help us and took an alternative order. Ten minutes after the complaint was given the owner/ chef came out to the table for what we thought was going not be an apology, but in reality it was his poor defense on why there was no problem with his food and that we would have to pay full price for both meals ( uneaten macaroni and cheese plus the second meal we had ordered in place of that). Not only was this not what we wanted to hear, but the owners approach was unacceptable and not professional. Repeatedly in these reviews does the owner respond "We are in the business of making people happy," but his reaction to our complaint proved this statement to be false. All in all the owner needs to revise his menu and learn how to handle constructive criticism.
P.S. - Stop saying "I must admit, it took a couple hours of reflection to respond to this post", because you should probably use those 'couple hours' improving your restaurant.

We came because of the Tripadvisor review and we were not disappointed. We started with martinis and vodka tonics, and moved on to a very affordable Californian Cab. Chef Eric came out to chat with us and immediately captivated us with his warmth and passion. He made some food suggestions, which included the Veal chop and the Duck Ravioli, which we took and enjoyed thoroughly. Starters included, Escargot stew(not what Eric called it) and Rabbit burgers.....both fantastic.

We highly recommend this warm and inviting Urban Bistro. Delicious and fun!!

Thanks.

I have been dining with Chef Eric Marle for about 25 years as he has matured as a Chef and opened and evolved several iterations of this great bistro. He has just changed the atmosphere and the menu to a more infomal format with an easy going but very "urbain" decor and taste. His menu has great starters and entrees and a great wine selection by the glass for all ocassions. You can sit at the bar with a glass and just have one of the excellent starters or two, or take it up a notch and dine with your date at a comfortable table with a new menu of mains which combine innovative comfort food (Shepard's Pie with braised beef cheeks; Mac n Cheese with roast squash, pancetta and three cheese sauce) with great bistro classics ( Eric's signature Steak Frites, fabulous grilled foie de veau and Cod and Chips ). The service under the watchful eye of Julie, is impeccable but friendly. And, big bonus, the prices are down from the previous more formal menu, without lowering the quality in any way. Eric and Julie have a real winner here

This was our first visit back since the reno's and we loved the new ambiance and layout of the restaurant. The service was friendly and the chef made his way around to see if everything was to our liking. We were a group of 8 and did the wine pairing with the chef's tasting menu. Very delicious and wines were nicely paired complimenting each course of the meal. We always enjoy spending an evening here as it is a relaxing and cozy atmosphere with great food and good service. They have a new menu which we will most definitely try in future.
