“Good for Long Weekend of Skiing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2013

We recently traveled to Mont Tremblant for a ski weekend when our plans for the same weekend in Lake Louise were derailed. We were able to secure accommodations at Ermitage Du Lac Tremblant on short notice. We were however in a very small room with no dressers or place to store any of our clothes or ski gear. The skis themselves we were able to place in a locker but there was no place for boots, ski clothes or even your regular clothes. Breakfast was fine for us but if you are someone who likes a hot breakfast this would not be the hotel for you. Overall the hotel was very clean and quiet. Convienent location. I would return but only if I could secure a larger room.

Dear DeirdreWade,

We were delighted to read that you enjoyed our continental breakfast and advantageous location, and that you would consider returning to our hotel. L’Ermitage du Lac offers many different types of rooms and condos and I am confident that we could find one that would better meet your needs. We thank you for your review and look forward to your next visit!

This hotel was a nice little boutique, but not spectacular. The fire place in our room (gas) was hard to light and required maintenance assistance one night. The morning buffet was pretty decent, but there wasn't much room to sit in the eating area. They do provide trays in each room though, so you can take your food back to your room. The online pictures obviously show one of the much larger rooms, because our living room and kitchenette (despite having a suite with a separate bedroom) was pretty small. And the bathroom was starting to show its age with peeling paint.
The staff was a mixed bag. Some of the downstairs folks (and there was only one at a time, meaning you often had to wait to get help or check in) were really helpful and others ... not so much. Although they were all "nice," some were more accommodating in providing information than others were.
The location is close to the base of the town and near the gondola that takes you up to the ski area, so that was good. But if you wanted to go to dinner at the top of town, you are going to hoof it up hill because the gondola stops at 4:30 in the winter (presumably sundown). All in all though, I liked the location. it's right next to the ice skating rink and you don't get any street noise from pedestrians outside like I imagine at some other places. We did hear our upstairs neighbors walking around a lot, but in snow boots, there's probably not much that would stop that.
Bottom line: the room was clean, always well made up and towels refreshed, dishwasher run when we used our glasses, etc. The location was good and the staff was decent. (Oh, and they charged for wifi, which annoyed me.) There's also no restaurant on site.

The Ermitage du lac is a wonderful "boutique" hotel of about 60 rooms to which my wife and I returned this year for the second time. It felt like coming home. The ambience of the hotel is more of an upscale inn than of a "party palace" like some of the other nearby pedestrian village accommodations. I hesitate to recommend it because it may be even more difficult next time for me to book it!

The Good:
-variety of rooms from hotel style to two-bedroom suites, all with quality furniture and appointments. Lots of towels!
-small but very useable kitchenette area with a small refrigerator, microwave, two-burner stove, kettle, coffee maker, and high-quality glassware and pots/pans
-pleasant front office staff. You sit down (yes, sit!) in a comfy chair to complete the check-in process and receive a detailed rundown of the hotel features, the package deals (if applicable), parking policy ($12/night onsite), meal hours, etc.
-outdoor whirlpool, nicely heated- just perfect for the mad dash from inside in -25C weather (yes, it was cold last week)
-right next to the small skating pond, if that's something you enjoy
-great location at the foot of the pedestrian village (can you say "shopping"?)
-close to the gondola, which takes you to the base of the ski hill (and the "real" lifts)
-fairly comprehensive breakfast, though those whose tastes lean to heaps of bacon and eggs will be disappointed. You will however find juice, fresh fruit, yougurt, a couple of selections of cold cereal, hot cereal, coffee, teas, many types of bagels and bread, waffles, croissants, cheese, milk, ...
-and so much more

Could Use Some Work:
-small breakfast area, easily overwhelmed when there are large crowds
-the same thing that makes the place cozy, makes it inconvenient at check-out time when seemingly everyone converges simultaneously at the last possible moment on the single person available - maybe that's my failing, not theirs?
-rooms with fireplaces cannot be reserved until you get to the hotel
-the locker area for skis is cramped. Cross country skiiers will not find much room for waxing

All in all, highly recommended, but please stay somewhere else - I want to find a room next time I book!

-Brad

Hotel itself is cute with quality features, breakfast is good.
Only things to regret were the lack of professionalism, first day: no soap, no bathrobe, second day: no bathrobe. 3 persons took note but nothing was done. The last day the reception person: oh, they should have told me, I had some new ones here......
However even these little disagreements, the ladies at he reception desk are all fantastic, trying to help on each occasion and the building is really warm and cosy. Recommended!

Very pleasant hotel, the rooms are a good size with a comfortable bed (slightly soft but fine). The breakfast is buffet and a little limited but that is more than made up for by nice rooms and setting. It is a little expensive but everything here is.

Having stayed in mont tremblant several times and walking past this gem on many occasions, I was pleasantly surprised by the staff, the hotel itself. Great spacious 1 bedroom suite with a view of the lake, clean room everyday plenty of towels, this hotel is far superior compared to the higher end hotels in the resort itself, stayed at the westin last summer and was greatly disappointed, best bang for buck, only downside there is no bar in the hotel! Only complaint, highly recommended stay here next time your in tremblant.

Great hotel, nice location as it is centrally located yet far enough away from the noise. Rooms are nice, beds and pillows comfortable. Continental breakfast was good with enough choices for me and my wife. Shuttle to casino stops at front of hotel. Was raining one one of the days and they offered me an umbrella, pretty impressive. Downfalls they charge for parking and it is not a cheap hotel, also not enough seats for the breakfast.
