“Great Location for Ski-ing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2009

Brilliant location for ski-ing. Literally 3 minutes walk from the Gondela. We opted for a studio room which comprised of a large king size bed, kitchen area, bathroom and living area with open fire. Very comfortable room with views over the village. We had bed and breakfast which was fine. Breakfast was uninteresting, same old every morning but okay. For ski-iers great facilities for locking up your ski equipment each night. Outside jacuzzi great fun and lovely when its snowing outside. All in all good value but beware expensive to eat out in the village.

I stayed in room 330. It was OK
It was well equipped with a small kitchen and table, fridge, hob and microwave.

Toiletries (Neutrogena) were given reluctantly at first but after complaining they were renewed generously.
There was a fireplace but we never had to use it.

About the location: that’s main asset, it couldn’t be better. Just next door to the Fairmont and much cheaper.

Pools : the outdoor pool is closed in the winter. The hot-tub was out of order for most of the time but we enjoyed going to the Aquaclub La Source everyday . it’s only 200 meters away, if you don’t mind paying $15 per adult and $8 per child.

Breakfast OK. Staff could do with some customer service training. They do have an attitude.

Reception Staff: the highlight of the hotel - very helpful and polite.

The downside of the place is the room service. As another traveller wrote it looked like the service was done in less than 5 minutes, with no much difference between before and after.
I had to personally stay with the cleaner once to show her the places to vacuum or scrub. Clearly the floor hadn’t been hoovered for weeks. Several times I had to call to get the cleaning lady to turn up and finally had the room cleaned at 4pm.

I find it really below average to sleep on a roll-away bed. Yes, the main bed is a roll-away bed. Incredible.
And last, the thing that puts me off is the cooking smells and chimney smoke that come from other suites and circulate through the vents, and there is nothing to stop that. It made me feel sick. What a bad system.

I had a great time in Mont Tremblant ; it’s the best resort I have ever experienced but I will think twice next time about staying in the Homewood Suites.

Now i stayed here and have stayed in the Fairmont next door, so i'll try not to compare them too much since they are completely different classes.

The Good:
I stayed in a two bedroom suite with my family.
Beds were comfortable, PLENTY of space, kitchen was a good size. We used the kitchen everyday, and when we asked for more pots and pans and cutlery they were very speedy to give it to us. I was traveling with 4 kids under the age of 13 and 2 other adults and there was plenty of space.
Breakfast was superb. Great food. GREAT location. The staff at the front desk i think knew us very well. They were very accommodating and nice. They didn't charge us for the last day (which usually they do charge) we had booked so that we could go back to montreal and have my family be able to see everyone one last time before they left back to their country. The price difference between here and the fairmont is huge, and you have instant access to the hill from the hilton so it's super nice and MUCH less expensive.

The bad:
The cutlery and pots and pans weren't cleaned well. There was a dishwasher in the room, and the cleaning lady would put the dishes in DIRTY, so that when they were finished, all the leftover food that was stuck on the plates were still on it, but now even harder to get off. That wasn't something we enjoyed.
The sheets in the pull-out couch weren't very clean, but the beds were okay. Nothing great though. Towels were okay too.
I may stay here again... it depends whether i'm on a budget and how expensive the fairmont is at the time.
My overall experience in Tremblant though was amazing, but that also has a lot to do with my family, snowboarding, and the Tremblant staff.

When we first checked into the hotel we were put into a room with a lovely view of the village however the room smelled strongly of vomit. I called the front desk and they sent somebody to pour bleach into the bathroom sink and tub. After half an hour smell had not gone and they offered to put us in another room. This room had a view of the highway and wasnt half as nice I asked if they had anything else but as they were full it was that or an upgrade to the next level room which we would have been charged $300 for decided against it and we stayed in the vomit room. We got used to the smell and could only smell it when we had hot water running.
Breakfast was great you should get there when it first opens at 7AM as no one is there. They offer eggs, sausage, toast, yoghurts, fruit and cereals. They do offer a snack at 4.00 but its tinned soup and a salad not really worth the trip to the kitchen area. This is rated a 4 star property its quite basic and not luxurious at all. But if youre after a full kitchen it has everything you need. Food was expensive in the restaurants they add resort taxes etc. We went to Catherines Creperie which was lovely we got two crepes at $8 each, one coffee, one beer and with taxes it came to $40 not including tip. I would recommend taking your own food. Don't go to the Smoked Meats cafe the waitress had a cold sore and wore a latex finger condom. I only managed to eat a quater of the sandwich as was put off by servers finger.

My family of fours (2 adults + 2 children 6 & 8) stayed at the Homewood Suites over New Year. We were lucky enough to be upgraded from a 1 bedroom to a 1bedroom + loft. Therefore we could have 2 beds instead of having to use the sofa-bed.
The room looked clean. There were 2 big flat screen TVs, an open kitchen and a chimney. I couldn't have asked for better.
One of the reasons I had chosen this hotel (in fact more like a condo) was its location. It takes you 1mn walking to the ski lifts and 2mn to go to drop your kids at the ski school.
On top of that, the entrance of the building is on Place Bernard, the main Plaza, where all the after-ski activities were organized during the holidays season. I was great for the kids.
Now for the bad...
I remember reading some previous reviews commenting on the length of the hallways. I thought it was not a great deal. It wasn't but we had to walk 70 yards from our room to the elevator. We had to think twice before leaving the room.
It has also to be noted that there are 2 sets of stairs in the middle of the hallway. So, depending on where your room is located, you have to unload your luggage from the cart and carry them one by one to your room. You may want to ask for a doormen to help you.
The main negative point was the service. Even though the Homewood is not an hotel, you expect some kind of minimum level of service, specially when you pay over 500 dollars a night.
The people in charge of the breakfast were yelling at customers (including children) because they were grabbing too much food to bring to their room. We noticed this behavior many times to conclude it was the policy of the hotel to keep the consumption under control.
The room service was not up to the expected level either. The first 2 days my wife was quite happy with the way the room was cleaned. It was done early in the morning and the job was well done. Afterward, it looks like the service was done in less than 5 minutes, with no much difference between before and after. On an occasion, we had to call several times to get somebody to show up. We finally had the room cleaned at 4pm.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at this place, thanks mainly to the location and the upgrade. We'll probably consider going back, despite the aforementioned shortcomings.

We were disappointed by the quality of our suite at Homewood Suites. We had previously stayed at the Fairmont Tremblant and had thought that Homewood as a 4* hotel would be comparable. It was not in the same league.

As a Hilton facility, I had expected that this well situated building would possess a recognisable standard of accommodation. Sadly it did not. The redeeming feature was the location which was over the main square and this allowed us to watch the New Year celebrations without suffering the incredibly low temperatures outside. The dining room in which breakfast was eaten was small and each morning began with a competition to get a table. The food available was of limited choice and often of limited quantity. I was unable to have tea as there was never hot water available and finding fresh fruit salad required good timing. Curiously, spoons were in very short supply also. The experience was not improved by other guests arriving in pyjamas or by the slop bucket at the side of the room.

The hot-tub was out of order for most of the week, probably the busiest week of the year, between Christmas and New Year. One day the house staff forgot to clean our suite. After we mentioned this at Reception, it was cleaned the next day.

All-in-all, we will not be back.

Stayed at the Homewood Suites in Tremblant for 2 weeks.

Out suite was lovely. 2 bedroomed with separate bathroom and a mezzanine bedroom upstairs. There was a fully equipped kitchen and dining room and items like coffee replaced every day.

Great hotel, great breakfast every day. Only complaint about breakfast was the people who came down still in their pyjamas and bed hair - yuck, yuk yuck!! Disgusting!! We did complain to the hotel and they asked the guests to go back and put on footwear and daytime clothing. That was really offputting but the management dealt with it well.

In the late afternoons, the chef makes soups, chilis etc which you are free to snack on and that came in handy. We had a patio where we could test the weather each day before we went out. It's a typical Hilton as you would expect and we really enjoyed it. Groceries in Tremblant are very expensve so it is worth taking the bus down to St Jovite where things are at least a third cheaper.

Mont Tremblant on the other hand is a bit of a different story. Think of a ski resort owned by Disney and you get the idea. Think timeshares and you get the idea. There is no authenticity about Tremblant. A big corporation has came along and built a purpose built resort and everything you do, every penny you spend goes to that corporation. Don't get me wrong - its a lovely place but there is something creepy about it. All the stores sell the same stuff at the same price and there is only one restaurant that does not sell the usual burgers/fries combo, and it is very expensive, although very nice!! We tried dog sledding and that was a GREAT experience, loved every moment of it.

Tremblant is great, we are really glad we went and experienced it but we would not go back. Try the Rockies for the real Canadian experience. The people were nice, the resort functional but there was no heart in the place. Also, its VERY cold and I don't mean normal skiing weather, I mean -35 degrees that actually hurts your teeth if you dare to open your mouth and LOTS of crud which just ruins the runs at times. White out is common as is rain. If you go, then do stay at the Homewood Suites because it is a very nice establishment.
