“Great Staff!”
Reviewed June 29, 2011

We had the pleasure of staying at Homewood Suites for a week recently. Had a lovely time exploring the village, gondola rides, beach & pool, etc. We would really like to give a compliment to the staff - they are wonderful! From the hardworking ladies at the breakfast buffet, to the accommodating front desk staff - they made everything go smoothly. If you are staying for a longer time - would recommend bringing along a couple of things that are not provided - dish detergent or dishwasher soap - yup, that's about it! Have a great time!

We were a party of 4 and had a very spacious suite with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, full kitchen, massive lounge & dining table big enough for 8 - and a balcony overlooking the village - suite was great, very clean & comfortable.
Complimentary breakfast was ok but limited (no omlettes - maybe they only do them during Ski season). Afternoon snack just natchos. Pool quite small, but ok to cool off in.
Overall we had a great 2 nights - the only bugbear (literally) was the Mosquitoes - you couldn't stay atop the mountain for long without getting bitten to death (all the staff up there were kitted out like beekeepers).

We had a great time at Homewood Suites last April. The hotel was not fully booked so we got a nice corner room with a great view. The staff was great and the room was clean and the hotel is very well located.

The only bad thing I can say : ohmygoodness the bed was not confortable! But we were the only for the weekend so it didn't matter.

My husband and I love Mont Tremblant. We booked through tremblant.ca and got a fantastic deal. Our loft room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. We will definitely consider coming back next year, but would like a balcony.

Reception staff helpful room comfortable. Breakfast was of a good standard with plenty of choice to set you up for a days skiing. Snacks a welcome bonus and coffee available at all times. The hot tub is lovely although the sauna disappointing as does not reach a decent tempetature. Practically ski-in ski out so very convienient. HOWEVER, Mont Tremblant resort itself is not to be recommended. Incredibly expensive, from lift pass to ski and boot hire, to restaurants/montain snacks and mini supermarket. We found customer service poor, infact I would say resort staff almost have comtempt for their visitors. Skiing is ok but limited, not much of a challenge for the experienced. Pistes groomed well although the best runs were closed for competitions and there is an additional charge for snow park! Wouldn't go back - prefer North America where they actually welcome overseas visitors. And yes, we do tip at least 15%!!!

This hotel was disappointing. On the plus side, we enjoyed the outdoor hot tub, the room was spacious, clean and most of the staff (not the manager) were pleasant and made us feel welcome. The down sides were too many though.

The furnishings were very low quality ("flea market cheap" as my partner described it). They even cheaped out on the light fixtures using ugly fluorescent light bulbs. The bed was hard and hurt my back. The mattress looked like it cost less than one nights fee.

We bought our lift tickets through the hotel but they messed up. We reserved 4 days for 2, but they only had 2 days for us. After a lot of run around we ended up buying 2 more days at full price. The hotel manager refused to admit his error and insisted it was not his problem. We were really disappointed with that. I would think a hotel managers job is to ensure guest satisfaction.

Overall this hotel gets a thumbs down. They're really missing the mark here. I suggest you keep looking.

THE HOTEL:
We stayed at this hotel whilst skiing at Tremblant. The hotel is large and situated at the foot of the slopes. Not quite ski in ski out, but only a minutes walk from both the gondola and the four man chair out of resort. Our room was on the third floor, and was nice and roomy with lots of storage for our kit. In the room was a full kitchen, which came with everything you could possibly need. This even included salt and pepper satchets and dishwasher salt.
The room was cleaned every day although this was done at any time between 10am and 3pm. Not really a problem if you are on the slopes. Towels were changed each day and soap and toiletries topped up. The hotel was quiet on the whole, with no banging doors or echoing corridors so we slept well.
The room had a great open fire which we used every night. Reception sell logs at 5 dollars a shot.
Breakfast was served each morning in the first floor dining room. Some people might say it was the same each day but we found it fine. Scrambled eggs were always on the menu along with beans, ham, sausage and bacon. Various jucies, tea and coffee. This was supplemented with several types of cereal, toast, fruit bread and various sticky pastries. All of this can be taken back to the room. So I would advise you to stock up.
During weekday afternoons snacks are served. This seemed to usually be various soups and nachos and dips. Great after hitting the slopes and enough to tide you over till an evening meal.
There is a large hot tub outside which was lovely and warm.
Downside: The bed was not hard enough for either of us, but for most people they would probably be fine. I tend to sleep on a plank at home anyway. A couple of nights we had horrendous winds which led to a lot of wind noise coming down the chimney. Did'nt wake the wife but did wake me several times. Still can't control nature.
The staff were helpful and always on hand to answer any questions.
To sum up, all in all a great hotel with a superb location.
RESORT:
The resort is not cheap, anywhere. In fact it is extremely exspensive. Eating out every night will cost you a fortune. As a guide a very average steak and chips will set you back in the region of 30 dollars each. A beer is 10 dollars. The same on the mountain. A quick snack lunch on the mountain will cost you 25-30 dollars. The best place price wise is at the top of the gondola. Fresh soup, burger and fries and a hot chocolate was 20 dollars, which is on a par for a mountain restaurant anywhere. The hidden gem is on Le Soleil run, a third of the way down and is called Le Refuge. Great food and a great atmosphere. Grab a seat early on a Monday and a Wednesday because they have live music and it gets very busy, but is an awesome way to spend a lunchtime.
In resort there is only one store, toward the bottom of the Cabriolet lift. This is a small stand up lift that makes anywhere in resort accesible. This General store has a small selection of all most people will need. However it comes at a price. A far better option is to pop into Saint Jovite. Easy if you have a car, only ten minutes or on the orange line bus which is a 20 minute journey. The bus stops right outside the Metro supermarket where you will find everything at half the price of the local shop. The bus runs every 30 minutes but make sure you have the right change because the driver does not take notes. It was 2 dollars 25 cents at the time of writing.
As said, everything in resort is stupidly priced. From 12 dollars for a fridge magnet to 1300 dollars for a non-branded ski jacket. Yeah ridiculus I know.
There is very little in resort itself. Will take you about an hour to cover all the shops so if the weather closes the resort there is very little to do.
SKIING:
The skiing itself is great. Having said that we had two awesome powder days during our 10 day stay so maybe we were spoilt. Still not sure where the learner slopes were apart from a 20 metre slope by the gondola. So if any of your party are hoping to learn to ski/board I would suggest you look into this. The pisteing of the slopes is not what you normally get in Canada and nothing like North America. Having said that we had a lot of snow which I know made things difficult for them but during our ten days we only found two or three runs that had been groomed.
Most intermediate skiers/boarders will ski this resort in a week easy. Although, if there is snow you had better like moguls because virtually every run will be covered in them. The skiing is varied and should suit most people and most peoples abilities.
Certainly during our stay we found the weather most strange. The South side was always very windy and bitterly cold, whilst the North was less so and seemed to be a bit more protected. The wind seems to sweep across the South side and with a lack of grooming the slopes become scraped and icy quite quickly.
Overall I would say to anyone come to Tremblant for a great experience. But wrap up warm because even in March minus 20 degrees plus wind chill will cut right through you. Hope this review helps, and if you do choose to go have a great time.
